Description
Housing-based shelters offer expanded services during cold weather alerts by adding additional mats/cots and using hotel space as needed and remain open during the day so that people can stay inside:

Durham Youth Services - 82 Kings Cres, Ajax (youth 16-24)
Muslim Welfare Home - 425 Dundas St E, Whitby (women and their children)
Cornerstone Community Association of Durham - 133 Simcoe St S, Oshawa (men, male-led families, older adults)

Ajax
Ajax Public Library - To Be Confirmed
  • Main Branch - 55 Harwood Ave S -- Tue-Sat 9:30 am-7 pm, Sun 12 noon-5 pm
Christian Faith Outreach Church - Doors of Compassion, 158 Harwood Ave S, 905-619-2670 - To Be Confirmed
Overnight warming Mon-Sun 9 pm-8 am, drop in, first come first served, intake until 12 midnight, call to inquire if space is available because of capacity limits *** not open for overnight warming during a cold weather alert, all individuals requiring overnight shelter in Ajax during the Extreme Cold Weather Alerts should be directed to the Ajax library location or in Pickering the Eastshore location, transportation will be provided to and from Pickering if required
