Adult Literacy for the Deaf

Description
This program is designed and facilitated in a bi-literacy environment to allow deaf, hard of hearing, and deafened adults who wish to further their literacy skills, post-secondary education an/or training program opportunities. The program is provided in a barrier free classroom setting facilitated in American Sign Language (ASL) by using a learner centered approach.

Program opportunities include but are not limited to:
  • Academic upgrading
  • Communications skills
  • Numeracy
  • Computer technology
  • Deaf culture
  • Job Readiness/Placements
  • Drivers Education
  • American Sign Language
Eligibility
Deaf, hard of hearing, and deafened adults, aged 19+. ASL classes may be offered to family members of Deaf individuals.
