Ontario Renovates Program
- Description
- Assists homeowners with repairs, including accessibility, health and safety issues, and energy efficiency in the form of an interest-free forgivable loan
- Provides up to $25,000 in forgivable loan assistance
- Comments
- 10% of the loan is forgiven each year and is fully forgiven after 10 years.
- Eligibility
- Individuals must:
- be 18 years of age or older and a Canadian Citizen or Landed immigrant
- own a home in the District of Nipissing that serves as their sole and principle residence
- be at a low to moderate income level
Eligible repairs may include:- Structural (foundations, roofs, walls, floors, ceilings)
- Electrical systems
- Plumbing
- Heating and energy conservation systems
- Doors and windows
- Vents, louvers
- Fire safety
- Septic systems and well water
- Improved accessibility such as ramps, handrails, chair and bath lifts, height adjustment for countertops and cues for doorbells/fire alarms
- Creation of secondary dwellings (additional approvals are required)

- Apply through the District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board
- A completed application form and supporting documents are required
- Repairs must begin within 120 days of project approval
- Loan forgiveness period is 10 years
