Community Homelessness Prevention Initiative
- Description
- Assists individuals and families who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness to meet certain housing needs
- Provides financial assistance for rental arrears and energy-related emergencies
- Covers eligible energy arrears to a maximum of two months, and the security deposit and reconnection fees related to natural gas, oil and other forms of energy
- Covers eligible costs to a maximum of two months of rental arrears
- Comments
- Note: This program does not provide financial assistance to individuals living on a First Nations reserve; individuals can contact their Band Office to inquire about rent or utility arrears
- Eligibility
- Individuals and families at-risk of becoming homeless or who are homeless
- Requires completed application to be reviewed by committee members
Energy Arrears- One-time assistance in a 12 month period
Rental Arrears- Must have an eviction notice
- Can apply once every two years
