- Provides monthly funds for adults with a disability to hire an attendant of their own choosing to assist with activities of daily living
- Allows individuals to schedule attendant services around their own schedule
- Comments
- Attendant services refer to physical assistance provided by another person for routine activities, such as transferring, showering, dressing, or undressing. These are activities an individual would be able to do on their own but are unable to due to their physical disability.
- Eligibility
- Individuals with a permanent physical disability
- Resident of Ontario
- Individuals must be capable of managing their own funding, according to provided guidelines
Individuals must be able to:- meet with a Selection Panel to discuss their needs and determine their eligibility for the program
- schedule attendants
- hire (and fire, if necessary), train and supervise attendant workers
- meet all the legal requirements associated with being an employer (these will be clearly explained during the application process)
Age Requirements: Ages: 16 year(s) and up;- Individuals with a permanent physical disability
- Application Process
- Must complete a written application, available on the Direct Funding website, or a request for the application can be made at the office
- Applications must be completed by the individual requiring service
- The application must be completed on individuals own initiative and in their own words
- Physical assistance is available to complete the form
- Submissions may not be made by professionals, family members or others on individuals behalf
