- Description
- Represents the community in all lands and resources initiatives
- Oversees the Land Code which was voted in by 85% community approval and became effective Apr 2014 giving Dokis First Nation full responsibility for their own land management
- Liaises with all companies undertaking resource development in traditional Dokis First Nation territory including mining developments, forestry projects and hydro electric power projects
- Participates in negotiations and agreements with resource developers to ensure Dokis First Nation is fairly included in benefits
- Consults with target groups who have an interest in land and resource issues such as mining
- Develops and implements a consultation protocol for negotiations related to Lands and Resource issues
- Advises community members on Lands issues via meetings, website or correspondence
- Provides guidance for the development of a Land Use Plan for the community
- Cooperates with the Housing Department for allocation of land to Dokis First Nation registered members that wish to build a home or cabin on territorial land
