Provides affordable rental housing for low-income seniors, non-profit housing for families, singles and persons with disabilities, rent geared-to-income housing for persons throughout the region

Operates three distinct housing programs:

1. Affordable rental housing for low-income seniors (market rent)
2. Non-profit housing for families, singles and persons with disabilities (market rent or subsidized)
3. Rent-Geared-To-Income housing for persons in need in Windsor and Essex County (subsidized)

Non-profit social housing program

• provides affordable long-term housing throughout city (individual homes, duplexes, triplexes, four-plexes, multi-unit row houses, six-plex residential housing unit)
• provides emergency food assistance for tenants and community members
• infant formula and baby food, (when available) for anyone in need

A six-floor apartment building with 70 bachelor suites and 5 two-bedroom suites for permanent housing, 6 of which are dedicated as accessible units, with tenants who are provided with 24 hour care from the Association for Persons With Physical Disabilities (APPD) which has an on-site office staffed 24 hrs

• also has additional bachelor units, which are used for people in the community who are in need of clean and safe emergency housing and transitional housing

To provide supported subsidized housing for individuals who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless and who have a mental illness. The program works with private market landlords in the community acting in a liaison capacity to assist with providing access to safe, affordable and stable housing for consumers who are receiving community support services. This program provides:

• Safe affordable access to housing
• Community based private market housing
• Search for affordable housing
• Landlord/tenant resolution and tenancy support
• Supports to maintain housing in the community

Geared-to-income housing for Aboriginal families including:

• 84 units consist of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes
• transitional housng includes the Biimskiinodin House
• rent supplement units for singles and couples
• 12 apartments for students, couples and seniors

Maintains a centralized waiting list for most social housing providers in Windsor and Essex County.

• assists applicants in Windsor and Essex County seeking accommodation in social or non-profit housing through the use of a co-ordinated access system
• provides a single access point to housing resources in the community

• information about social housing in the community
• determining eligibility for assisted housing meeting required criteria of the provider

Housing information, help and advocacy including:

• networking and information on all types of rental accommodation (co-ops and non-profits, public housing, private market units, barrier free units and transitional housing units)
• One-on-one client assistance in homelessness prevention
• provide counselling and connect clients with other service agencies or landlords to obtain or retain housing
• Rent supplement assistance
• Transitional housing
• Landlords wishing to register affordably priced and vacant units for the general public or Syrian refugees can do so on the website

Maintains purchase of service arrangements for the provision of Housing with Supports Program beds for those individuals in need of supervised living environments

• Provides permanent housing in a supportive community environment for residents that are living with psychiatric, physical or developmental disabilities, and/or are frail elderly
• Subsidies for the cost of residing in the Housing with Supports Program are offered to qualifying applicants as space allows

• provide rent-geared-to-income (RGI) to 1,415 households in C-K
• area Landlord for C-K public housing (56 buildings, 710 units)
• area Service Manager to 14 C-K social housing providers (1,592 units)
• responsible for affordable housing programs in C-K
• Provides centralized information about private non-profits, co-operatives, municipally owned social housing, rent supplement units with private landlords and affordable housing programs to help applicants of every income level make informed choices about their housing needs
• Special Needs Housing is available for a household having one or more individuals needing accessibility modifications or provincially-funded support services in order to live independently in the community.

A co-operative housing building with subsidized housing units. Fifty town houses units available to families and there are 2 accessible units.

Housing cooperative offering 60 percent geared to income housing and 40 percent general housing. There is a mixture of geared to income units, accessible units and market rate units.

Non-profit organization providing an alternative type of living through co-op housing

A 3 storey, 67 unit apartment housing facility for Christian senior citizens. Affiliated with the Social Housing Registry Office

Co-operative Housing. A five-storey, 40 unit building with 2 wheelchair accessible apartments.

Provides rental assistance through a number of housing programs. The Housing Services Department also manages housing owned by the County of Lambton and administers non-profit, co-operative and rent supplement programs. The Housing Services Department also provides assistance to home owners for home renovations and down payment assistance for those renters wishing to become homeowners.

A non-profit housing co-operative with 50 units including 3 accessible units.

Cooperative housing equipped with 1 and 2 bedroom apartment and 2 and 3 bedroom townhouses. Wheelchair accessible units are also available.

Dogs are not allowed. A non-refundable deposit is required for cats. No smoking on the property and only on personal area outside of own unit.

Over 70 housing units for singles, seniors and families.
