COVID-19: No in-person services offered until further notice. Youth are able to connect with a Youth Navigator via phone, text, email or social media (Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter), Mon-Thu 12 noon-8 pm. The following services are currently being offered: clinical services (Mental Health Counsellor, Substance Use Counsellor and Nurse Practitioner); non-clinical services (Mental Health Caseworker, Employment and Education Support (including assistance applying for CERB, EI, etc.); Wellness Activities. A one-stop-shop for youth seeking services related to mental health, substance use, primary care, education, employment, housing and other community and social services.

Services include:

Mental Health Counselling: Speak with a certified mental health counsellor about any mental health concerns.

Substance Use Counselling: A certified counsellor can help youth with reducing or eliminating substance use, setting, and achieving goals, improving relationships and learning life skills. Can also help with mental health concerns.

Peer Counselling and Support: Speak with a peer about any issues one might be experiencing related to mental health, substance use, employment, housing, or other areas of one's life.

Nurse Practitioner: Receive free health care services, referrals and/or discuss current health issues including sexual health, birth control, vaccinations, mental health etc.

Employment Help: Assistance from an employment counsellor with searching for jobs, preparing for work and/or building a resumé.

Mental Health Caseworker: Receive help with finding housing, preparing for employment/volunteering/education opportunities, filling out forms, managing money, setting, and achieving goals, developing a safety plan, accessing services in the community, etc.

Youth Navigator: Offers peer support and help with connecting to appropriate services in the hub or the community.

Wellness Activities: Presentations and/or discussion groups on various health and wellness topics. Examples of topics include harm reduction, safer sex and STI prevention, mindfulness, goal setting, etc. Indigenous cultural activities open to all youth, such as drumming, beading, ribbon skirt making, etc. Wellness drop-in activities such as fitness classes, arts and craft workshops, ping pong club, movie nights, video game nights etc.

Open to all who may need additional support in their lives. Supports include, peer counseling, advocacy, connecting to culture, holistic mental, spiritual, physical and social needs, mental wellness support, crisis support, connection to resources, and parenting support.

A Metis specific service offering friendly visiting, security checks/reassurance calls, transportation to medical appointments, information and referral and advocacy for caregivers. Services are offered by volunteers and staff.

A prevention/early intervention program which provides Parenting Education, Support and promotes child development in children. Referrals and home visiting services are available for those in need.

Designed to assist clients and their families who are entering into, involved with or exiting out of the Niagara Health System. The Aboriginal Patient Navigator provides culturally appropriate services that helps individuals and their families better understand and utilize the Niagara Health System.

Services Include:

The APN program can help individuals, care-givers and their families better understand their plan of care and treatment options, overcome barriers while in the hospital and in the community, improve communication with service providers, and gain a greater sense of physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual support.

Literacy and basic skills training, including numeracy, digital, communication and interpersonal skills * helps learners prepare for employment, apprenticeship, secondary-school credit, post-secondary education and greater independence * specialized services available to Indigenous community

Provides employment and training programs to First Nations, Metis, Inuit: non-status, status, and out-of-province individuals to improve the employability of participants through programs and services

Services include: resume and cover letter assistance * computer and Internet access * job board * fax and photocopier services

Also offers employment and training services including: apprenticeship skills training * employment supports * On-the-Job Training * pre-employment training * purchase of training * self employment training * stay in school programme * training supports * youth internship.

Provides Aboriginal families healthy opportunities for the development of their children through education, family home visiting, service coordination and referrals. The program ensures that families have access and support, inclusive of early intervention and prevention services. Culturally appropriate and wholistic, the program begins during pregnancy and is carried through the critical years of early childhood education.

Addresses the unique needs of urban Aboriginal children. Every child's needs in the program are identified by intake, needs assessment and a client action plan process. Provides programs and services that are culturally based and focused on healthy physical, mental, emotional and spiritual development. Focuses on school intervention and support, and access to cultural and physical activities.
