Meals delivered at home to eligible seniors or adults with nutritional challenges

Provides services and care for people of all ages that have physical disabilities, serious health issues, or those who are frail and/or elderly. Provides assistance in the following areas:

• Medical transportation services
• Medical escorts
• Referrals to community services and Friendship Centre programs
• Preparing forms and applications
• Congregate dining services (includes meal and activity)
• Home visits/friendly visits
• Security checks (in person or over the phone)
• Caregiver Support services (respite and training)
• Advocacy with community agencies
• Access to cultural activities, traditional foods, ceremonies, Elders and Healers
• Assistance with housing issues
• Transitioning from the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) to Old Age Pension
• Locating a family doctor
• Assist in obtaining medical equipment and supplies

COVID-19: The congregate/lunch out dining program has been cancelled until further notice. Hot and frozen meals are still being delivered. All volunteers are being screened before picking up the food. Volunteers are calling clients upon arrival and letting them know meals will be put in a bag and left on their doorstep, table or cooler near their door.

FROZEN MEALS: Delivered once/week based on menu order

FROZEN QUIK PAKS: Entrees with soups or desserts which may be delivered to hospital discharged persons requiring meals for the weekend or newly admitted eligible persons requiring frozen meals outside of the regular frozen delivery schedule.

LUNCHOUT PROGRAM: Twice monthly luncheon program promoting social interaction, recreation and/or educational activities for Seniors 55+ in accessible dining sites in St Catharines. Transportation is available for those who qualify.

Home-cooked meals, packaged and quick frozen ready for microwave or oven. Each meal includes an entree, potato or rice and assorted vegetables. Additional options include: soup and dessert. Offers a rotating menu of 35 different meals.

Meals are available by delivery in St Catharines by the Meals on Wheels office or for pick up at Niagara Ina Grafton Gage Village.

Service provides frozen meals prepared from fresh foods to seniors and those requiring additional nutritional assistance. Meals are delivered weekly, or can be picked up at the Glanbrook Community Services office. Special diet types available, cooking instructions are provided on the packaging. Meals provided by Ina Grafton Village in St. Catharine's and by Zarky's in Hamilton.

Program offers a monthly nutritious meal and social time at a location in Glanbrook/Binbrook. Participants from outside of Glanbrook are welcome, but must arrange their own transportation. Transportation can be arranged for participants who reside in Glanbrook.

Hot, nutritious, three-course meal delivered during the noon hour. Meal includes salad, main course of meat, potato and vegetable, and dessert. Specialized meals can be made upon request.

Participants receive a meal served in a group setting that provides an opportunity for socializing. Developed for older adults and adults with disabilities who would like to get out of the house more. Transportation is available for a fee.

Program provides a variety of activities and programs to promote enjoyment and well being for older adults and retirees. Offering bingo, euchre and more. Also, fitness and strength training, speaker events on topics relevant to seniors and pot luck lunches

During COVID-19 the Food Bank is still making deliveries to vulnerable people and people with food needs.

Contact for details.Provides deliveries of food to applicants homes once per month. The program is a community-supported project that completely dependent on donations of cash and non-perishable foods. Home delivery only.

Provides community support services to urban Aboriginal clients, regardless of age, who are disabled, chronically ill, frail, elderly or require acute/chronic continuum of care. Services include: medical transportation services, assistance with completing forms, community referrals, home visits, security checks, caregiver support, aid in transitioning from ODSP to Old Age Pension, and congregate dining meals and activities.

Provides delivered meals for residents who are unable to attend to their own nutritional needs, yet wish to continue living independently in the community. Volunteers are selected through a screening process and provide social contact as well as monitor the well-being of the client.

Meals on Wheels (Frozen) - Clients are given several frozen meal options to choose from and special dietary items are also available. All meals can be easily reheated in a microwave or conventional oven.
