• Safety-related features that help seniors stay in their home

Provides an interest-free loan program that will allow property owners to borrow funds from the city to assist in the replacement of privately owned lead water service pipes

• Provides financial assistance to homeowners to reduce lead levels in drinking water at the tap
• Loans for up to $5,000 of eligible costs are available, for five years, or 10 years for property owners that qualify under the Tax and Credit Program for Low-Income Seniors and Low-Income Persons with Disabilities or the Tax and Water Credit Program for Low-Income Persons
• Loan approvals will be subject to the availability of funding and priority given on a first come first serve basis

Eligible costs include: Contractor's labour for connection, excavation and backfilling, equipment charges, materials/supplies and building permit fee

Assists individuals to plan and make informed choices about managing their health care needs or the needs of someone they care for

Offers in-home Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Dietitian, Nursing, Personal Support Worker and Speech Language Pathology

Access to health care support at home or in the community

• Assists individuals to plan and make informed choices about managing their health care needs or the needs of someone they care for
• Coordinates information about other services available within the community and links individuals with these services when appropriate
• Determines access to health care services provided in the home
• Determines admission to long term care facilities (homes for the aged, nursing homes)
• Determines access to health support services provided in schools for children with special needs
• Maintains an ongoing waiting list for placement, programs, and services

• Owned by the District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board (TBDSSAB) who manages building rentals
• Offers 24-hour on-site non-medical support services to residents, supported by the City of Thunder Bay

Integrated Care Solutions which offers a bundled care model and provides home care services to patients transitioning from hospital to home that can include:

• Speech and language therapy

Alternative Level of Care (ALC) Transitional Program which offers supports to patients who transition from a hospital to an interim short-stay facility and include:

• Supports during the intensive rehabilitation recovery process
• Collaboration with hospital, family and caregivers to prepare patient for moving back home

Connects eligible, registered seniors with volunteers who will provide snow removal services at no cost

• Registered seniors will be matched with a volunteer who will provide snow removal services for the duration of the winter season (up to the last snowfall of winter 2022/2023)
• Volunteers will shovel a walkway (pathway) from the senior's door to the road within 72 hours of a snowfall of 3cm or more

There is no guarantee of services and driveway shovelling and/or windrow removal are not provided and cannot be requested under ANY circumstances.

Volunteer Opportunities

• Volunteers will be matched with a senior in their area, a shovel, tuque and mitts are provided

Provides short-term or on-going support services to assist elders to remain in their homes as long as possible

• Provides assistance with household chores, light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, and needs in the home as they arise
• Provides childcare in the home when the primary caregiver faces unexpected short term illness or hospitalization
• Acts as respite for informal caregivers such as extended family
• Acts as a social support for isolated or ill individuals
