NWPB:
- serves as the voice of labour market insight for Niagara, helping decision-makers at all levels to work together toward a stable and flourishing local workforce and economy
- engages communities in a locally-driven process to identify and respond to key trends, opportunities, and priorities to help improve conditions of the local labour market
- organizes events and activities that promote the importance of education, training and skills upgrading
- orchestrates the NWPB Immigrant Mentorship Program for internationally trained professionals, to help highly trained newcomers establish a local professional network in their field of expertise and better understand their profession from a Canadian perspective. This is part of a broader goal to create a more diverse and inclusive Niagara.
Computer Technology Career Launch (8 weeks): Trains women to gain confidence with computer technologies and certification necessary to find employment or continue their education in the career of their choice. Includes certification in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Skills include website content management and basic graphic design using Canva. Program also focuses on developing a career goal through a variety of career assessments and workshops. Placements are available for successful graduates.
Dietary Server Program: This 3 week program trains women interested in developing or enhancing skills required to gain employment in long term care homes or retirement residences. Guest speakers, training and tours of local agencies. Includes certification in Safe Food Handling, WHMIS, Customer Service Excellence, and Smart Serve. The program also provides the first course towards achievement of Niagara College's Dietary Aide Certification.
Tax Preparation Certificate: In partnership with Liberty Tax, this 10- week program offers a chance to learn about professional tax preparation with possibility for job placement for successful graduates.
Virtual Assistant Certificate Program: In partnership with yourvamentor.com , this program offers tips and techniques to take your skills online as an independent virtual assistant. This is a career offering with great growth opportunties for the years ahead,
Code PINK Program: This is a program designed to give women confidence, encouragement, enthusiasm and skills to learn computer coding. Certification in basic CSS, HTML and Jave Script
Wine Country Basics: This 8-day course gives and overview of Niagara's winery industry and a chance towrite the Wine Council of Ontario exam. Customer service skills, Smart Serve and Safe Food Handling Certification is included.
Safe Food Handling (1.5 days): This training is delivered throughout the region at various times of the year.

- Job Developers provide services to the employers who are hiring, including screening/shorting listing candidates and intentional matching for posted roles on our site
Career Development Lab:
Career Centre provides programs and services that support students as they prepare to transition into high school, allowing them to imagine a post-secondary pathway that will set them up for future success

Children's Safety Village

Provides kitchen and food training, job opportunities, and development to marginalized youth and adults. Operates a downtown café for Wesley clients, First Place Seniors Residence residents, and community groups from the 3rd floor of the First Place building. Also available for outside catering.
Note: Eligible participants will be paid an allowance equivalent to the prevailing Ontario Minimum Wage rate.
Options Training Program -- social enterprise which operates as a retail printing and business services store * participants take part in all aspects of store activities and receive training in customer Service, operating a cash register,faxing, scanning, binding and collating and sorting and logging of parcels
Art and Media Program -- an outlet for participants to express themselves through art * program covers many mediums and will occasionally include guest facilitators * art work will be featured in quarterly Port Credit newsletter * also offers a retail space for participants to display and sell selected pieces of art * a percentage of sales will be shared
In the Kitchen Program -- training in kitchen safety, cooking techniques, professional hygiene/sanitation practices and proper practices for serving food * students will help organize and run catering functions and gain experience on the job while also earning money through profit sharing
Food produced in these programs is used to support the Oasis Coffeehouse meal programs.
TRI-ROCK, funded by Service Canada, is an 18 week paid employment readiness/training program that is done in 2 phases. Phase I is 8 weeks long and takes place on-site at The Living Rock where youth receive a combination of practical work experience and employment readiness skills development. For Phase II, youth are placed with an employer for 10 weeks where they gain valuable job experience.
