A residence for individuals with a mental illness. Provides meals and 24 hour staffing. Nursing care is not available. The home is licensed for 15 residents. Homes for Special Care provides a supervised setting for psychiatric patients of St Joseph's Health care Center for Mountain Health Services and are licensed under the Ministry of Health. The Center works with the Homes and provides supportive services to the clients. There is no time restriction to length of stay.

Provides support, public education, and access to information about psychotic disorders (such as schizophrenia) to consumers with mental illness, friends, relatives, and caregivers.

Support group meetings for family members / caregivers and for individuals living with psychosis.

A non-profit arts and peer support organization operating in partnership with Silver Spire United Church. The organization aims to reduce barriers and provide opportunities for adult artists and creatives living with mental illness/substance use disorder in Niagara. The arts is used as an agent of social change by connecting and engaging the public through exhibitions, publications and performances to lessen the effects of stigma and social isolation. The organization supports the creative goals of aspiring, emerging and established artists.

Work to improve the quality of life for individuals experiencing mental, emotional and addictions challenges through the delivery of services including information and referral, urgent support services, residential services, counselling services, employment services and justice services.

Chaplaincy and Bereavement Support Services
Offers support to individuals throughout the Niagara and Hamilton areas to encourage and support each individual's faith or spiritual needs. Hamilton services are faith focused. The program is accessed directly through Bethesda's Chaplain at 905.684.6918 ext. 331.
This program provides support through three main areas:

• Trauma, Grief, and Bereavement Services in the Niagara and Hamilton Regions
  • ​The focus on the Christian faith is the differentiator to other similar services
• Spiritual Life Coaching and Formation
  • ​Providing support and working with people one-on-one to enable them to lead their best lives from a spiritual perspective
• Building Community
  • ​Groups offered to people that are supported at Bethesda.

Clinical Services
Provides comprehensive person-centred assessments, treatments, consults, and educational and training opportunities. The Clinical Services multi-disciplinary team includes Psychometrists, Occupational Therapists, Speech & Language Pathologists, Social Workers, Behaviour Consultants, and Mental Health Nurses. The team works collaboratively with the individual and their support by offering a variety of services. Services can be accessed through Developmental Services Ontario (DSO).

Dual Diagnosis Justice Case Management
Cross-sector coordination support to divert people with a developmental disability or dual diagnosis in conflict with the law, where appropriate, through securing services or treatment in place of the usual criminal justice proceedings of the trial and/or incarceration. The Dual Diagnosis Justice Case Management program can be accessed directly at 1-800-789-1773 or through Developmental Services Ontario (DSO).

Treatment for youth with emerging mental health concerns requiring mental health and addictions treatment and support. Services are provided in the office, clients' homes, or at a location of client's choice in the community. Staff work with clients on their goals for recovery. Treatment, counselling, education, and support are provided.

A non-profit children's mental health agency operating under the Child and Family Services Act. Accredited by Children's Mental Health Ontario and is governed by a community based board of directors.

There are a limited number of programs that use volunteers. Individuals interested in volunteering should contact Pathstone's main line at 905-688-6850.

Provide training and support services for persons with severe or persistent mental health problems. Training is provided on site in the Garden Cafe and Clerical Units, Transitional and Supported Employment Programs. On the job support is also available.

A virtual consumer/survivor group that offers support, education, information, advocacy and self-help groups for consumers of the mental health system.

A transitional residential program for individuals with a mental illness. This residence has a capacity to accommodate 7 tenants.

This residence is staffed by one full time support worker, and several part-time staffers, who provide 8-11 hours of support daily. Provides a combination of affordable housing and ongoing flexible housing supports. Length of program is approximately 6-12 months.

A 35-bed residence offering a comprehensive range of services for people recovering from alcohol and substance use.

Residential Treatment Services -- an 18-day residential, co-educational, treatment program focusing on addiction recovery through stabilization, education, skill development, health promotion and aftercare planning.

Hepatitis C Clinic Services offered include treatment for Hepatitis C infection, outreach services, peer treatment coaching and individual counselling. Patients can be referred by a family physician, Niagara Region Public Health or community health centres. Individuals who know they have Hepatitis C or believe they may be at risk of infection can also self-refer by contacting 905-378-4647 ext 32554

Niagara Methadone Services 905-378-4647 ext 32542, Mon-Fri 7:30 am-3:30 pm -- Medical assessment, opiate replacement treatment and referrals are offered to help people manage their opiate dependence.

Niagara Eating Disorder Outpatient Program 905-378-4647 ext 32532, Mon-Fri 8:30 am-4:30 pm -- Outpatient services for people with concerns about anorexia, bulimia and other food-related disorders. Services include medical and nutritional assessment, education, group therapy, support group, individual and family counselling and referral.

Addiction Program - assessment and outpatient counselling for people of all ages experiencing issues with alcohol, drug use and gambling. Mental health and peer support also available. Assistance is available to family and friends. Additionally, counsellors are available through the guidance offices of high schools. Community education is a major component of this program

Adult Mental Health Program - community-based, client-focused services to adults with mental illnesses or with concurrent disorders (mental illness and addictions) including assessment, consultation, treatment, education, support, and advocacy. It is an interdisciplinary staff (physicians, nurses, social workers, with support from addiction counsellors and peer support as required)

Specialized Geriatric Services - provides non-emergency clinical assessment, consultation, treatment and education to older adults, their families, and service providers who are, or know of, someone who is experiencing mental health issues combined with age-related difficulties

Provides assessment, rapid consultation, and treatment of individuals experiencing mental health problems. Coordinates aftercare for individuals discharged from inpatient psychiatric units, and works with community groups to prevent the development of mental health problems through education, consultation, and joint projects.

Peer support group for individuals and their families who are affected by a mood disorder and whose main purpose is to gain a better understanding of the illness, to offer non-judgmental support and to share experiences

• guest speakers include individuals who live with a mood disorder, psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, social workers and specialists in nutrition and relaxation

Mental health advocate

• for women struggling with depression, anxiety or other undiagnosed mental health challenges and are in need of mental health supports

Drop-in support

• open to all women who may be going through a difficult time and are facing challenges in their everyday life
• peer supporters provide one-on-one support by phone, email or in person

Abuse/crisis counselling

• one-on-one counselling for women dealing with the effects of abuse
• women will receive emotional support and guidance throughout the healing process with a focus on concrete plans for future safety

Life skills coaching

• women dealing with low self-esteem can receive up to eight personalized life coaching sessions
• learn skills to find empowerment and boost self-esteem

Legal Advice

• volunteer lawyers provide a free half hour legal advice session

Income tax clinic

• tax preparation for low income women that includes advice on rebates and benefits including the Canada Child Tax Benefit and health care benefits
• call or visit for financial eligibility
• clinics run from the end of February to the end of March

Borrow a Laptop

• loaning laptops to women in the Halton region to support their personal and professional development goals, and to make it easier for women to join our workshops

Divorce and Finance workshop

• a divorce financial analyst discusses financial mistakes women can avoid
• topics include selling or keeping your home, support payments, income tax, banking and credit

Family Law 101

• one day seminar introducing the basics of Family law and covering everything women need to know about separation and divorce
• topics include property division, spousal support, child custody and access, separation agreements and child support

Coffee and Conversation

• join the group for lighthearted conversation and snacks

Self care

• a monthly drop-in workshop for participants to learn ways to practice self care in the midst of all of the chaos

A free program intended for individuals, ages 13-30, who experience mild to moderate anxiety, stress, and low mood

• learn techniques to help you to effectively cope with stress and anxiety
• best suited to those for whom anxiety is the primary concern
• curriculum is based on Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), and includes education about mindfulness, mindfulness techniques and self-compassion
• participants are encouraged to self-select to be part of the program, independent of caregivers or other external support(s)
• a diagnosis or referral is not necessary in order to participate
• occurs weekly, for 7 weeks, and each session is 90-120 minutes long
• includes a free gym membership at the YMCA Oakville to promote the use of physical fitness for mental wellbeing

Helps disabled or injured workers, and family, friends and co-workers of workers injured or killed on the job through community educational seminars, workshops, clinics, guest speakers and information on current and pending legislation. Also provides private consultation, and assists in completing forms. Offers a monthly peer support meeting

Providing specialized supportive living services, care and support to persons over 18 years of age with developmental disabilities, challenging behaviors and mental health issues * supportive living services are located in a central administration and recreational building in downtown Oakville * operates eleven homes in the communities of Oakville, Burlington, Mississauga, Halton Hills and Georgetown * elected volunteer board of directors is responsible for the governance of the organization * volunteer opportunities available


Services for individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities with a focus on complex needs

• clinical services: persons are served by a multidisciplinary team consisting of direct care counsellors and other professionals including physiotherapist, speech language pathologist and speech language assistant, occupational therapist, behaviour therapists, psychologists, nutritionist, nurse specialist, physician and psychiatrist
• ongoing assessment, treatment and management
• opportunities for basic life skill development, workshop activities and for some supported employment

Day Services

• supports people with an intellectual disability, including those with complex needs, to meet their community participation aspirations and desires as outlined in their Personal Support Plans
• Individuals have a range of activities in which they can participate, including an on-site greenhouse, a laundry service that supports some of the community-based homes, swimming, landscaping, and supporting the Town of Oakville's park clean-up program

Dual Diagnosis Service

• provides consultation, comprehensive assessment, treatment planning, interpretation, on site support and follow up, mentoring and education/training
• Dual Diagnosis Justice Coordinators support individuals through the criminal justice system and to ensure supports are in place to reintegrate into community life * serve individuals 18 years old and up * referrals can be made by the individual, family, service providers, courts, police or anyone involved with the individual * individual's consent must be obtained

Short Term Assessment and Treatment Environment (STATE)

• for those with a dual diagnosis - assesses the individual and develops a treatment plan that will assist in integrating the individual back into their community

Group Therapy: Treatment and Counselling

Focus is to improve a child/youth's self-esteem and emotional regulation by helping them understand the feelings they are experiencing and developing effective coping strategies

Group Therapy: School-Focused Treatment and Counselling

For clients/youth between Grade 1 and Grade 8 who are experiencing significant and pervasive emotional, social or behavioural needs that are impacting the school setting despite in-school supports

• children/youth attend once a week, 12 noon-2:30 pm
• possible diagnosis/query: ADHD, ADD, Anxiety, OCD, LD, Depression
• program requires partnership and collaboration with the school and the family starting at the referral level and throughout treatment
• parents/caregivers participate in Family Support Group and individual meetings with Child Youth Family Counsellor

A social group that meets to work on their own art (drawing) projects, with their own materials
* most participants collaborate on publishing comic books as well as other books, including textbooks
* some participants do limited painting (small watercolours)
* drop-ins are welcome - coffee, good company, paper and pencils available

Due to COVID-19, all groups and individual appointments have been moved online.

Provides support and guidance to anyone struggling with body image issues, disordered eating and eating disorders. Services include: support groups, educational workshops, gentle yoga, support for families and friends, meditation and individual psychotherapy. Also provides an e-classroom where individuals enrolled in the treatment programs or workshops can access, download, and print materials.
