Searching for Food Delivery

Provides fresh and affordable produce that are purchased from local farmers and wholesalers. The goal of the GFB is to provide a way to families who cannot afford it access to fresh healthy food. Each month, boxes will be delivered to central host sites that are easy to access throughout the Niagara Region. Available to anyone in the Niagara Region who will benefit from the program. CSSN staff assist in placing on-line grocery orders for seniors and adults with disabilities. Volunteers provide contactless delivery of the grocery order to the client's home.

COVID-19: Due to efforts to minimize exposure and adhere to health and safety protocols, delivery is only available from Sobey's grocery store at this time. A commercial delivery service providing delivery to homes from grocery stores : Sobey's, Commisso's, Fresh Co., Food Basics, No Frills, Zehr'S, Metro, Giant Tiger.

COVID-19: The congregate/lunch out dining program has been cancelled until further notice. Hot and frozen meals are still being delivered. All volunteers are being screened before picking up the food. Volunteers are calling clients upon arrival and letting them know meals will be put in a bag and left on their doorstep, table or cooler near their door.

FROZEN MEALS: Delivered once/week based on menu order

FROZEN QUIK PAKS: Entrees with soups or desserts which may be delivered to hospital discharged persons requiring meals for the weekend or newly admitted eligible persons requiring frozen meals outside of the regular frozen delivery schedule.

LUNCHOUT PROGRAM: Twice monthly luncheon program promoting social interaction, recreation and/or educational activities for Seniors 55+ in accessible dining sites in St Catharines. Transportation is available for those who qualify.

Phone line that anyone in the community can call to help connect at-risk older adults with programs and services. The Niagara Gatekeeper program works in collaboration with local partner agencies.

Referrals are made to the most appropriate partner agency. Upon consent from the older adult, the partner agency will provide education around local programs and assist in the coordination of referrals to a range of services and supports.

Services are intended to help individuals remain safe and independent at home for as long as possible. The referral line is confidential and callers may remain anonymous..

A senior showing the following signs may need assistance:

• difficulty communicating, including confusion, memory loss, becoming withdrawn, hostile or angry
• changes to personal appearance, including poor hygiene, grooming, wearing dirty or inappropriate clothing
• deteriorating home conditions, including extreme neglect or disrepair, bad odoiurs, excessive clutter, neglected pets, lack of food
• deteriorating health such as difficulty seeing, speaking or hearing, poor mobility or balance, recent falls, significant weigh loss, injuries or untreated wounds
• decreased ability to handle money or pay bills
• unusual transactions
• inability to cope with the recent loss of a spouse or family member, friend or pet

Home-cooked meals, packaged and quick frozen ready for microwave or oven. Each meal includes an entree, potato or rice and assorted vegetables. Additional options include: soup and dessert. Offers a rotating menu of 35 different meals.

Meals are available by delivery in St Catharines by the Meals on Wheels office or for pick up at Niagara Ina Grafton Gage Village.

A social enterprise/farm share community, working with multiple farmers, businesses and distributors to provide local product to Niagara residents. For every subscription produce box bought, a bag of free produce is provided to various community groups within the region, as well as on site, to those in need.

COVID-19: The lunch club and congregate dining programs are currently suspended.

Hot Meals delivered at home to eligible people. Meals are now being prepared by Gourmet At Home a local company that prepares the meals fresh each day.

A non-profit, volunteer service delivering hot and/or frozen nutritious meals at a reasonable cost. Also provides a social contact and a security check on their well-being. A monthly lunch out program is also available.

During COVID-19 the Food Bank is still making deliveries to vulnerable people and people with food needs.

Contact for details.Provides deliveries of food to applicants homes once per month. The program is a community-supported project that completely dependent on donations of cash and non-perishable foods. Home delivery only.

Good Food Box is a non-profit program that makes healthy fresh produce affordable and accessible to everyone.

Service provides frozen meals prepared from fresh foods to seniors and those requiring additional nutritional assistance. Meals are delivered weekly, or can be picked up at the Glanbrook Community Services office. Special diet types available, cooking instructions are provided on the packaging. Meals provided by Ina Grafton Village in St. Catharine's and by Zarky's in Hamilton.

Hot, nutritious, three-course meal delivered during the noon hour. Meal includes salad, main course of meat, potato and vegetable, and dessert. Specialized meals can be made upon request.

Helps local churches and organizations connect with local subsidized housing communities for the purposes of poverty relief and community investment

Camp Dakota

• an outreach program that serves children and youth who live in subsidized, low income housing communities
• a summer day camp program run in Halton Region and 5 sites in Toronto
• activities include basketball, field hockey, wide games - capture the flag & prisoners base, track and field, soccer, frisbee, hip hop dance, crafts and story time
• all programs are provided at no cost to the camper or the family

Healing Wheelz

• the bike doctor (Phil Carver) makes house calls and does on site bike clinics to do bike repairs so no kid is without a bike
• if it can't be repaired on site, he'll take it to the shop
• for those who want to learn how, he will provide training to become a bike doctor

Father's House Cafe

• held every Mon evening from 5 pm-9 pm
• a coffee house format, where the atmosphere is warm and inviting, refreshments are served, personal stories and experiences are shared, encouragement is given, prayer is available and the unconditional love of God dispensed
