Healthy Smiles Ontario
A government-funded program that provides free dental care for children and youth 17 years old and under from eligible households. This dental program provides free preventive, routine and emergency dental services.

New Changes to the Way Social Assistance Clients Access Drug Coverage:
Ontario Health Card Program for Social Assistance Clients receiving;

• Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP)
• Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities (ACSD)
• Ontario Works (OW) and Temporary Care Assistance (TCA)
• The program was introduced to replace the paper drug Eligibility Card used by social assistance clients with their Ontario Health Card in order to access prescription medication under the Ontario Drug Benefit program.
• Once the client's card is swiped the pharmacist will be able to identify the individual is a social assistance recipient

Administers dental coverage programs for qualifying children and youth

• Offers no-cost direct dental treatment services to program clients
• Offers low-cost dental cleanings to qualifying children
• Provides oral screenings and education to schools and community partners

Baby Oral Health Program (BOHP)
The BOHP provides free screening for all infants and children, in Windsor-Essex County.
A screening by a public health dental hygienist includes:

• Check for cavities.
• Chat about a healthy mouth and teeth.
• Fluoride treatment at no cost, if needed.

Healthy Smiles Ontario (HSO) Program

• Eligible children and youth can receive no-cost dental treatment at the Health Unit or from a community dentist participating in the program
• Healthy Smiles Ontario covers regular checkups, preventive care and treatment.
