Registered audiologists serve both children and adults. In-depth hearing tests are performed. Hearing related counseling for clients and their families and consultation with involved caregivers is also provided.
Audiology Chatham- Kent Clinic:
Augmentative Communication Services (ACS) General Level Clinic helps children, youth and their families find ways to communicate. The Ministry of Health Assistive Devices Program authorizes Children's Treatment Centre to provide appropriate ACS services to children and youth with home based complex communication needs. Eligibility is restricted to children aged 19 or younger, but clients of the program may be monitored for ongoing communication needs and remain on the case load if needed. Speech Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapists and Communication Disorders Assistants all with additional training in AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication). Together the team supports children, youth and their families who have communication challenges through the prescription and customization of AAC devices, training and consultation in all environments over time. Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Clinic Form and Principal Referral Form are to be completed with parent's consent by the school principle and submitted by FAX, mail or email the forms to mball@CTC-CK.com.

- Hearing Testing - determines if there is hearing loss, the extent and what kind
- Middle ear testing- to rule out hearing loss related to reasons like ear infections or excessive wax buildup
- Hearing aid prescription/evaluation- to discuss the use of hearing aids, provide information and prescribe a hearing aid
- Hearing aid dispensing/selling hearing aids
- Hearing aid re-check
- Central Auditory Processing testing- for children between the ages of seven to thirteen, who may be experiencing learning difficulties
- Otoacoustic Emissions testing- to test the reliability and function of the cochlea (organ of hearing)
- Identifies infants who are born deaf or hard of hearing or who are at risk of hearing loss in early childhood
- Provides parents of deaf or hard of hearing infants with the services needed to develop communication and language skills
- Universal Newborn Hearing Screening
- Audiological assessments and follow-up
