Searching for Youth Drop-In Centres

Provide wraparound services from community partners to youth at a centralized, safe space. Assist youth to navigate services that they need.

Supports and services include the following:

A place for youth from Dresden and the surrounding areas to meet and socialize. Provide a safe environment where youth can be involved in programs to help deal with the challenges of everyday life.

SYC offers a variety of assets for the youth including:

• A well-furnished lounge area
• Large screen television X-Box 360 video game console
• A karaoke system

Offer an after school homework program in addition to being open to youth through the week, being involved in the Community Clean-Up Day, Street Dance and Music In The Park, going on local trips and hosting special themed events. Each December Sidestreets hosts a Santa Claus Breakfast as a fundraiser for their organization.

Offering young people (10-18) of the community a safe and welcoming environment to hang out and participate in a wide variety of activities. Operating under the 5 Pillars of Programming; Recreation & Leisure, Education & Employment, Arts & Culture, Civic Engagement and Life Skill Development & Leadership.

Provides youth with a safe and enjoyable environment in which they have the opportunities to learn and grow into positive, productive and motivated young adults.

The centre offers a pool table, several computers with high speed internet service, selection of video games, variety of board games, darts, big screen television and a canteen for refreshments

Events held include town clean ups, bbqs, movie nights, card tournaments and pool tournaments. A place for youth to attend to be involved with community events, special events and programs offered throughout the year

Community centre available for rental. Caters to youth and senior specific organizations and programs. Operated by the Exeter Lions Club.

Job Skills and Leadership Training - Provides youth with training opportunities, work experience and skill development through experiential learning within the Club's facility and community partnerships * grades 9-12 programs available * low or no cost training and certificates also available

Social Programs - Programs for children and youth * program times are subject to change

Supper Club - Hot, nutritious meal provided to children and youths attending evening programs during the school year

Teen Zone - Programming for teens including homework help, computers, access to internet, games, music and other activities * access to sports, gym, rock climbing, swimming pool, weight room * leadership activities, out trips, and specialty clubs

Volunteers - Volunteer opportunities for youth and adults * volunteers assist with other programs in recreation, nutrition, social programs, and creative and digital arts * must attend orientation and obtain a vulnerable sector check (18 years and older) after speaking to the staff

Leadership, community engagement and integration program for high-school aged permanent residents and convention refugees

Provides information about settlement topics and referrals to community organizations for volunteer work, employment and other settlement help * weekly sessions to mentor and encourage youth to achieve their goals, as well as provide opportunities for socialization and practicing English * bus tickets, sports and leadership activities

Participants must commit to one session per week

Casual church services held Sunday at 9:30 am - enjoy coffee and wear casual clothes. Traditional worship services Sunday at 10 am. Sunday School is held during services. Services are livestreamed and available on YouTube site.

A safe supervised place for youth to socialize with their peers and develop positive, healthy lifestyles. Daily activities that cater to all interests including laser tag, dodge-ball, arts & crafts and gaming tournaments. Have computers, ipads, a PS4 and Nintendo Switch to play the latest games in a fun environment.

Drop-in times provide a safe place for youth to socialize with adult supervision and role modeling. Encourage, enable, and provide information on positive living and healthy development. Scheduled programing also available, see website for details.
