Through a collaborative partnership with local First Nations communities, the hospital has implemented Indigenous Navigation Services to enhance the care experience of Indigenous patients and families.The Indigenous Navigation Services Team assists Indigenous patients, families and caregivers in moving through the hospital system and back to the community in a culturally safe and relevant manner.
The roles of Indigenous Patient Navigator, Indigenous Transition Navigator, and Indigenous Substance Use Care Partner were developed in partnership with members from the three local First Nations - Aamjiwnaang First Nation (Chippewas of Sarnia), Bkejwanong (Walpole Island First Nation) and the Chippewas of Kettle and Stony Point First Nation - and other participants on the regional Indigenous Health Planning Committee.

The Non-Insured Health Benefits Program is Health Canada's national, medically necessary health benefit program that provides coverage for benefit claims for a specified range of drugs, dental care, vision care, medical supplies and equipment, short-term crisis intervention-mental health counseling and medical transportation for eligible First Nations people and Inuit.
The NIHB Program will provide coverage for a limited range of medically necessary goods and services to registered members. It may repay some or all of the costs incurred when health care programs, products or services are purchased. This includes a range of medical, dental and pharmacy services when they are not covered by provincial or other third party health plans.
Medical Transportation - Services all members of Aamjiwnaang living on-reserve who travel to any location within catchment area * Note that transportation to Dialysis, Cancer Treatments and/or Methadone Maintenance Programs will need to be approved ahead of time. - Home Visiting Program - uses a family centered model that ensures pregnant women and families with children up to 6 years old on Aamjiwnaang First Nation have access to supports that reflect their values, priorities, strengths, and preferences.
- Breastfeeding Buddies - a Mom-to-Mom Breastfeeding support Program. Trained volunteers are matched with breastfeeding moms.
- Head Start Drop-In - focuses on parent and child interactions for children up to the age of 6 years old (older siblings are welcome to join).
- New Parents group - for expectant parents and parents with children 0-6 months old. Topics are related to new parents to be and parents with newborns. Topics may include: Prenatal Classes, Breastfeeding, Making Moss Bags; Memory Bears; Infant Massage, Baby Moccasins, Baby Food Making, etc.
- Fathers group - activities for fathers, grandfathers and male caregivers with children up to 6 years old. Topics vary. Activities usually include the children.
- Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder supports - The Health Centre partners with Union of Ontario Indians and Southwest Ontario Aboriginal Health Access Centre to provide FASD resources. Supports are available for pregnant women dealing with addictions to alcohol and/or drugs or have a child with FASD
