Offering support in helping individuals understand and live with mental health challenges and assistance with support to help improve their lives.

• Outreach to promote awareness of the Mental Health & Well-Being program and ensure access to the program
• Meet holistic needs of clients
• One to One Peer support
• Referrals to external agencies/help where required and requested to minimize negative effects of mental health
• Establish and maintain relationships/partnerships with local and mental health agencies
• Plan and deliver culturally appropriate programs and activities, educational sessions, life-skills training related to mental health

Supports adults living with a dual diagnosis (developmental disability and mental health issue(s)) through a supported independent living program.

• Provides assessment via the Ontario Common Assessment of Need (OCAN).
• Offers client-centered support services that promote stabilization and independent living as mandated by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services.
• Individual progress is a result of collaboration with psychiatrists, family members, community partners, psychoeducational opportunities, crisis intervention, and addiction supports.

COVID19 Group therapies are all suspended.
All other outpatient services have moved to telephone/OTN except for those who do not have phone/computer, and those requiring injections and blood work.
Patients can still see their therapist/psychiatrist by phone/OTN but they are trying to defer non-urgent cases.

Provides assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for adults with schizophrenia and other psychosis disorders. In partnership with clients, families and other service providers, assists clients with living, learning, work and social needs.

Services include:

• psychiatric consultation and treatment
• psychosocial programs and peer support
• rehabilitation including vocational support, employment assistance and education
• clinical case management
• community liaison
• education and support for clients and families

Offers assessment and treatment for people with serious mental health and addiction problems and their families to promote recovery and improve quality of life.

Provides specialized services through integrated and coordinated clinical programs:

Adult Outpatient Program - treatment for people with a serious and persistent mental illness and their families.
Services include:

• crisis intervention
• initial intake and assessment
• psychiatry consultation and psychological testing
• group therapy
• individual counselling
• Psychological testing
• community advocacy and community links

Adult Inpatient Program -

• crisis intervention, assessment, stabilization, short-term treatment and discharge planning for people with serious mental health issues.
• Individuals 18 years and older are admitted by their physician or through the Emergency Department.
• Provides 24/7 nursing care as well as social workers, psychologists, occupational therapists and psychiatrists.

Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Unit (CAPU) - a six (6) bed short-stay assessment and stabilization unit.

• provides a safe and low-stimulus therapeutic environment for youth 17 years of age and under.
• Patients meet with a Psychiatrist and Social Worker daily.
• Nursing staff and Child and Youth Workers are onsite to support youth in their treatment.
• Treatment may include managing medications, teaching distress tolerance and emotional regulation skills, and safety planning.
• Family or guardians and other community service providers are involved in care.

Regional Community Treatment Order Coordinator (CTOC) - available as a regional resource to Peterborough, Haliburton and Northumberland Counties and City of Kawartha Lakes.

• A Community Treatment Order (CTO) is a form issued by a physician that allows a person with severe and persistent mental illness who does not engage voluntarily in outpatient follow-up to receive treatment in their community rather than in the hospital.
• CTO Coordinator helps identify people who would benefit from a CTO, assists treatment team and provides education to consumers, families, healthcare providers and other service providers.

Regional Early Psychosis Intervention Program - helps individuals who have experienced the onset of a psychosis benefit from early treatment and provides support to their families

Outpatient program offers treatment for children and adolescents with significant mental health difficulties and their families. Multidisciplinary team of social workers, psychologists, dieticians and psychiatrists. Services include:

• Family assessment and treatment
• Individual child assessment and treatment
• Psychiatric consultation and treatment
• Psychological assessments
• Quick response service for situations that involve serious risk of suicide, school avoidance, or thought disturbance
• Section 23 classroom
• Eating-disorder outpatient therapy, medical monitoring, and dietary support
• Urgent care clinic for children and youth up to 18 years of age with urgent mental health needs such as a sudden decrease in mood or functioning or suicidal behaviour. Specializes in eating disorders and reactive attachment disorder.

Provides a variety of supports and services to meet the mental health needs of children, youth and their families in the community.

Brief Therapy - a six week service that provides solution-focussed support

Sexual Abuse Response Program - a 6-week brief therapy addressing immediate presenting concerns and assesses the need for longer-term therapy

Crisis Intervention - designed to provide immediate services to assist in stabilizing the current crisis

School-Based Services including a series of planned sessions designed to address the identified needs and goals

School-Based Services collabortively with local school boards to provide mental health supports to young people in schools

Respite Services provides overnight respite to children and youth up to the age of 18, with a variety of unique and complex needs

Youth Court Support and Mental Health Diversion Program provides support to young people with identified or suspected mental health needs and that involved in the Youth Justice system within the City of Kawartha Lakes.

The Arson Prevention Program for Children (TAPP-C) involves two main components; fire safety education (provided by the local fire department) and assessment (completed by Chimo)

Live-In Treatment is an intensive service that provides 24-hour care and support to youth residing within program. Chimo has 2 Live-In Treatment programs. Each program serves 8 youth, one for males and one for females from the ages of 12-18.

Single Session Support offered due to the suspension of the Walk-in Clinic to provide timely assistance to individuals to address a single issue related to the social, emotional, and behavioral wellbeing of the child/youth

The Kawartha Lakes Community Clinic, provided by Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences (Ontario Shores), provides specialized clinics and programs for outpatients in a community setting.

• Co-ed supportive housing for people diagnosed with mental health issues who require various levels of support in order to learn independent living skills and/or maintain their independent living environment

Community Counselling Provides:

• Crisis and longer term counselling rehabilitation case management and psychiatric assessment services to those individuals 16 years of age and older who have a serious mental illness. Require doctor's referral
• Lynx Early Psychosis Intervention program (ERI) which serves those young people who are 15 - 35 years old and showing early signs of possible 1st episode of psychosis .Require doctor's referral
• Virtual ER for pediatric population (children 0-18 years old) which provides adolescent psychiatry consultation based on a doctor's referral

Regular Service
Lynx is an early psychosis intervention program committed to helping people who are experiencing a first episode of psychosis.

• Psychosis is a disorder characterized by changes in thought, perception, emotion and behavior and may involve a loss of contact with reality
• Program offers early identification, rapid response and screening, psychiatric support, case management, family support, peer support, education and treatment to persons aged 14-35 in the early stage of psychosis.

A community-based recovery focused and strengths-based program, assisting individuals with a serious mental illness in supported independent living; promoting a safe and healthy environment.

This support is founded in respect, dignity, hope and collaboration. The goals are to:

• assist people to live as independently as possible
• assist people to participate in the community
• provide supports to minimize stress, manage illness and prevent crises and hospitalization
• provide education and support to enable people to develop and maintain skills and relationships

The Housing Support Program also provides Hoarding Support Services for individuals whose tenancy may be at risk due to hoarding behaviours. Supports are individualized and provided in the client's home.

The Supportive Housing Program also works in collaboration with CMHA-HKPR to provide twenty-four (24) one-bedroom subsidized units leased through private landlords. All clients in subsidized units are supported by Supportive Housing Services and Mental Health Case Management.
