Goose Management Program
- egg removal, turf sweeping and habitat modification
- concentrates on nests on Lake Ontario shoreline, in the Bronte and Oakville harbours and along the Sixteen Mile, Fourteen Mile and Twelve Mile Creeks
- by permit from the Canadian Wildlife Service, Town crews round up and relocate approximately 1000 geese every June to the Aylmer Wildlife Sanctuary

Gate and Park Access
- approval is required before installing a gate in a Town fence separating private property and active parkland (fee applies)

Community Gardens
The Town of Oakville has four community gardens: (all allocations are currently full)
- Kingsford Gardens - Sherwood Heights Drive and Kingsway Drive, east of Ford Drive
- Lyons Lane - Lyons Lane and the South Service Road, east of Kerr Street
- Memorial Park - Central Park Drive, west of Trafalgar
- Shell Park - Lakeshore Road West between Great Lakes Boulevard and Chalmers Street, east of Burloak Drive
- garden plots are usually open between May 1 and Oct 31, for non-commercial use only
- due to the high demand, the above locations are available to Oakville residents only
- to place your name on a waitlist for one of the gardens, register for a garden plot online (current wait times are estimated at four years from the date of submission)

Community-based volunteer driven programs to help people build relationships across the diversity of income, education, age, ability and health to enhance their capacity for meaningful lives

Ontario Electricity Support Program (OESP)
- provides assistance in applying using OESP's online application system (by appointment only)
Members include gardeners living in the Halton-Hamilton area who have diverse horticultural backgrounds and a desire to share their passion for gardening
Volunteer at:
- local garden tours and shows to answer gardening questions
- Royal Botanical Gardens festivals
- special community garden projects
- Canada Blooms (answering gardening questions and as guest speakers and expert panelists)
- members also speak on garden topics (e.g., at Horticultural Societies and libraries)
* includes raised accessible plots for individuals with limited mobility
* seven plots are dedicated to providing fresh food to local food bank programs run by volunteers of the Burlington Food Bank
* each community garden has full sun, water supply, soil, compost, wood chips for pathways, a storage shed, some large tools, compost bins and a picnic table

Permit holders are expected to:
* provide their own plants, seeds and garden supports/ornaments
* follow all garden rules and help to maintain the common areas of the garden and keep water barrels full
Volunteer opportunities to help grow food for food bank donation are available through the Burlington Food Bank at Maple Park and Central Park

Donations
Donations of tools in good condition, patio umbrellas with stands, vegetable seeds and seedlings are welcome

Consultation and Burlington Neighbourhood Community Matching Funding is available to residents and community groups wishing to organize to start up a community garden on private, commercial or institutional land (assuming a suitable site, City zoning by-laws allow for community gardens on all but contaminated unsafe industrial land)

Child and Youth Programs - Provide youth with a wide range of social recreational activities that will enable them to be peer leaders, and to enhance their personal and community capacity
EarlyON Child and Family Centre - Free drop-in programs offer children up to the age of six, their parents, and their caregivers an interactive environment where they can participate a wide range of activities
Food Access Programs - Addresses food access and food security issues in the Stonegate community * support the development, implementation and operation of a local community garden, a Good Food Box program, a Good Food Market, a seasonal Farmers' Market, and school based Snack Program * capacity building workshops around food issues also organized throughout the year for community members to attend.
Pre and Post Natal Programs - Pre natal program offer child birth classes and a weekly pre natal nutrition program * post-natal programs offer parenting information, breastfeeding support and encourage healthy eating for women in the first year of their baby's life

Once a week from May- September, children will learn and prepare healthy meals and snacks, explore physical activity and learn more about nutrition and health living.
Children work in the garden plots located on site to plant, monitor, and harvest organic vegetables that can be used to create recipes in the program.
