Volunteers assist the hospital staff in providing care to patients and help financially by fundraising. Volunteers help in a variety of areas and roles including:

• nursing units
• in-hospital patient transport
• dialysis
• Emergency
• Information Desk
• Long-term care
• library book cart
• Out-patient Clinics
• patient visitation
• surgical day care
• rehabilitation therapy
• ConnectCARE
• off site opportunities throughout the Halton community
• gift shop, convenience store, fundraising activities
• many other opportunities, including leadership opportunities with the volunteer association or volunteer department
• volunteer positions exist days, evenings and weekends

• supports volunteerism through advocacy and outreach
• referral/matching service for volunteer placement within the community for youth ages 13 and up, seniors, newcomers and groups
• education and support for Volunteer Engagement Professionals, Board Directors and volunteers through the Training Centre for Service Excellence
• workshops, webinars, information programs

Volunteer Auxiliary providing services to the Milton District Hospital

• a registered charity with numerous fundraising initiatives
• funds raised are donated to the Milton District Hospital and used to purchase new equipment
• annual fundraisers include Strawberry Fair, rummage sale, Christmas luncheon, Gift Shop and gift wrapping at the mall
• services include wayfinding, assistance on patient units and in clinics, emergency department, sewing and repairs, flower arranging, gift shop, tea wagon for patients and visitors
• youth volunteer program giving teens 14 and older an opportunity to gain knowledge and volunteer experience

Through partnerships with staff, volunteers help create a positive experience for patients at the Hospital

• volunteers are involved in most areas of the hospital in roles either patient facing, or in non-patient facing areas

• referral/matching service for volunteer placement within the community for youth ages 13 and up, seniors, newcomers and groups
• education and support for Volunteer Engagement Professionals, Board Directors and volunteers through their Training Centre for Service Excellence focusing on topic and issue related workshops/webinars, comprehensive and informative programs, and community outreach
• serves the corporate community with various programming services that engage individual and team volunteering
• support and promote volunteerism through advocacy, community outreach, public and media relations

Charitable Donations

• GHVA accepts charitable donations, including in memoriam
• donations cards available at local funeral home

Poinsettia Sale

• Poinsettias offered for pre-order in Nov with delivery the first week of Dec

Trinkets & Treats Gift Shop

• Offers a selection of giftware, cards, flowers, baby clothes, toiletries, candles, clothing and plush toys
• located by the main entrance

HELPP Lottery

• Break open tickets available for sale at Delrex Variety (Georgetown Marketplace)

Knitting

• Volunteers knit baby outfits, blankets, scarves and slippers for sale in the Gift Shop
• donations of wool welcome

• Held at various times
• donations of raffle items welcome
