A community collaborative to reduce poverty led by YWCA Muskoka and community partners. Matches low income families (Circle Leaders) with community volunteers of a higher income (Allies).

Meets weekly for meals, discussion, support, growth and fun. Big View meetings held once per month and feature a far-ranging discussion of the causes of poverty in the community and how to address them.

Volunteer allies needed

CPAN is a network of 62 organizations and over 600 kind and caring individuals working together to eliminate the effects of child poverty in a manner that is empowering and inclusive. CPAN works using a 3 pronged approach:

• public education
• advocacy
• practical assistance through various programs created to help local children in need
• Tools for School: provides backpacks, school supplies and shoes
• Operation Snowsuit: collects and redistributes gently used and new snowsuits, boots, hats and gloves
• Harmony for Renfrew County: offers art-based lessons to youth (12-18 yrs) using the pay-it forward model
• creation and delivery of a School Inclusion Project in 8 schools, to assist with some school fees
• Good EGG Program: Is supporting schools to build edible gardens, so that all children can learn to grow and have the opportunity to eat healthy nutritious food.

Domestic program -- financial support to child nutrition programs in First Nations communities across Canada

Overseas program -- long term community development in areas of food security, education and capacity building

Assistance in developing programs which focus on financial literacy and coaching, helping people with low income to file taxes and access government benefits, improving access for low income people to safe and affordable financial services and helping them to build savings and assets

Resources and food distribution for member food banks in Ontario

Rescues fresh, surplus food and delivers daily, free of charge to community agencies and emergency food programs

Harvest Kitchens -- surplus food prepared by staff and/or volunteers that are packaged and distributed to non-profite organizations who serve meals but do not have the kitchen space or staff to cook meals themselves

FoodRescue.ca -- online platform connecting businesses with surplus food products to non-for-profit agencies with food programs
