Searching for International Credentials

This program extends the Welcome Centre settlement services to newcomer clients living in Simcoe County. Services provided in the Welcome Centre system are mirrored and supplied to outreach locations through mobile delivery.

Assists individuals in gathering information and resources and provides support in a welcoming and culturally sensitive manner.

Clients are encouraged to develop a one-to-one trusting relationship with staff, while accessing all the services they require to help integrate economically and socially into their local communities.

Also supports volunteer led English Conversation Circles, where participants practice English skills and meet other newcomers in their community (at certain locations).

Core immigrant services include:

• settlement services
• employment services
• accreditation and qualification information assistance
• English language skills
• other supports to connect newcomers with local services

Serves clients by individual appointments at various locations and can deliver to other areas in Simcoe County throughout the week based on request.

English language assessment done in partnership with Achēv Language Services.

All services are currently being provided virtually.

Assesses international academic qualifications and evaluates equivalence to Canadian education system

• assessment reports are used for immigration, employment, admission to some community colleges, or for licensing by some professional associations
• not necessary for admission to Canadian university degree programs

Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) -- for applicants applying under Express Entry and other federal and provincial immigration streams

Verification and evaluation of academic credentials earned outside Canada

Federation of the physiotherapy provincial and territorial colleges * supports member organizations in knowledge brokering and policy services * administers evaluation service which includes credentialing and competency assessments * reviews education and qualifications of internationally-educated applicants

Administers the Physiotherapy Competency Examinations

• helps stakeholders to understand international educational credentials
• ongoing liaison with governments, national academic assessment bodies and other credential evaluation agencies
• designated by the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship

Accepts requests worldwide for Ontario equivalency assessment.
