CASE is designed to meet the needs and concerns of families and students who may not have been participating in public education previous to secondary schooling. CASE operates as a semester program, separate from the mainstream program at Listowel District Secondary School, covering grades 9-12. A full range of academic levels is offered to prepare students for a wide variety of career options, including college programs and apprenticeships.
Students combine two days per week of scheduled academic studies with cooperative education placements in the community, graduating with an Ontario Secondary School Diploma. CASE can participate in technical training, participation in the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program, Specialist High Skills Majors, and co-op placements in specialty areas such as healthcare, business, and the trades.

* approximately 80% of the training happens on-the-job with an employer and the other 20% is completed in school over two 12-week winter semesters
* once registered, apprentices typically take between 4-6 years to complete their training and certification requirements
