Outpatient assessment and treatment of psychological concerns and eating disorders for adults and children

COVID-19 (14 May 2021) CMHP has suspended all face-to-face groups in CMHP. Their focus is on limiting group gatherings. One-on-one care will continue virtually and face-to-face. Outpatient appointment schedules may be adjusted to limit over-crowding in waiting rooms. Clients who are affected by any schedule changes or cancellations will be contacted. Inpatients:

• eight-bed unit
• providing comprehensive assessment, stabilization and treatment by a specialized interdisciplinary team
• for youth that have serious early onset major psychiatric disorders who are unable to function in less supportive environments or with their families

Partial Hospitalization:

• day/evening program
• for up to 16 youth attending on a part-time or partial basis
• provides comprehensive treatment by a specialized interdisciplinary team for youth with serious early onset major psychiatric disorders who require intensive treatment but are able to function in the community or while living with their families
• inpatient and partial hospitalization units are strongly linked for service delivery

Day Treatment - Rehabilitation:

• day treatment will be a key service in the rehabilitation phase of care
• occurs in a classroom setting in a community high school supported by both mental health professionals and special education teachers
• local school boards take the lead in delivering Section 20 contracts
• day treatment will be a step-down service from either inpatient or partial hospitalization care or a step-up service from outpatient services

Outpatient:

• assessment, consultation and treatment services
• provided to clients who can function in the local community with clinical support from an interdisciplinary team
• services delivered in collaboration/partnership with community and mental health providers
• individual family and group interventions incorporate treatment and best practice principles into clinical service delivery

Outreach:

• interdisciplinary team targeting early onset major psychiatric disorders to the counties of their catchment area
• services vary depending on the agreed need and scope of support required, the principle being to provide the essential link of knowledge and support to treat youth in the local community
• enables access to specialized psychiatric services as needed
