Agencies in the Hamilton and Niagara Region provide residential and non-residential services for adults with developmental disabilities and their families. These services assist adults with developmental disabilities to live, work and participate in a wide range of activities within the community.

Developmental Services include:
* Community living supports for individuals with developmental disabilities
* Supportive day programs
* Respite and behavioural supports for adults, children and their families

Provides life skills training and support for persons with developmental disabilities. Eight group homes accommodate persons with different needs and varying types of support. The program also provides case management and advocacy.

Provides residential, day programs and supported independent living to developmentally handicapped adults and their families over 18 years of age. Also provides case management and advocacy.

Provides residential support to adults with developmental disabilities living in apartment settings. This is an option for a person who chooses to live independently or with a roommate. The level of support is determined on an individual basis and can range from several hours a day to a few hours a week.

A faith-based organization serving people with developmental disabilities and their families in Ontario. Offers residential and retreat facilities.

Residential care homes for adults with Acquired Brain Injuries (ABIs). Offers ABI rehabilitation programs, behaviour management, speech language pathology, etc. Also offers Transitional Living Services which aim to help individuals reintegrate into the broader community. Ontario provincial program that provides health-related items to people receiving Ontario Works or Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) funding and people on low income.

Assisted Living
Provides non-medical personal support service to high-risk seniors who require access to care on a 24 hour basis in their home. Services include personal care and support such as bathing, dressing, and medication monitoring as well as homemaking services such as light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation and care coordination.

Provides an opportunity for adults with a physical disability to live in a geared-to-income, fully accessible, one bedroom apartment. Access to essential non-medical 24 hour attendant and life skill support services. Support is provided on a contracted basis. Tenants lease their unit from the building's landlord.

Services include assistance with:

• eating
• bathing
• dressing
• transferring
• continence
• may also include meal preparation, medication, housekeeping, essential communication, arranging transportation, and shopping

A supportive housing project which provides an opportunity for adults with a physical disability to live in a geared-to-income, fully accessible townhouse and to access up to 12 hours per week of essential non-medical attendant and life skill support services.

Provides adults with physical disabilities living in the community with assistance in activities of daily living. Service includes scheduled non-medical care, such as meal preparation, dressing and undressing, rising and retiring, and personal care.

Provides driver companions to transport older adults to and from medical appointments, shopping centres, grocery stores, the bank, or social events and gatherings. Drivers can accommodate seniors with cognitive impairments, walkers and collapsible wheelchairs.

Companionship program offering drop-in friendly visitors at homes, retirement residences, or assisted living facilities.
Companions can assist with:

• medication reminders
• technology assistance
• light housekeeping chores
• dressing
• meal preparation
• yard/lawn care
• recreational activities such as walks or board games
• friendly conversation

Provides light house cleaning services for older adults.
Services offered include:

• dusting, polishing, vacuuming, mopping
• kitchen and bathroom cleaning
• laundry, bedding, and ironing
• cleaning out closets and drawers
• taking out the garbage

Services that are NOT offered include:

• lifting out heavy windows to clean
• chores that require climbing ladders
• moving heavy furniture
• shampooing carpets
• washing walls and ceilings

Companionship and home-assistance program offering live-in companions for short term or long term in home care assignment.

Takes individualized grocery lists from clients, shops in the store of the client's choice, and if required puts the groceries away upon delivery.

If a client wants products from two different stores they will be charged for 2 deliveries.

The service charge is based on the amount of the grocery bill.

If a client is in need of the service, but is not in charge of their finances, the program will work with their caregiver and shop for them and deliver. And extra charge is added to this service.

Program provided in partnership with Vision Loss Rehabilitation that provides support for individuals with vision loss and additional functional needs due to a permanent physical disability

Services include:

• personal care with the aid of an attendant
• vision loss specific training in the areas of orientation and mobility
• home and personal management
• communication skills

Personal support services are provided for activities of daily living such as bathing and toileting, range of motion exercises as well as the instrumental activities of daily living such as life-skills and light housekeeping support within a client's personal home. Operated by Thrive Group.

Offers a variety of client-directed housekeeping services for services with adult disabilities who are living in their own homes.

Services include:

• light housekeeping
• meal preparation
• laundry services
• additional services in the community such as nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and pharmacy

Provides a variety of personal support services for activities of daily living such as bathing and toileting, range of motion exercises, daily living activities, and light housekeeping. All services are provided in the client's own home.

Offers assistance with household chores and repairs at a low rate for seniors and people with disabilities. Services include minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry, heavy cleaning including fridge and stove, organizing closets, basements, and garages, snow removal, landscaping etc. One hour minimum is required.
