Searching for School Meal Programs

A supervised space for children to spend time before school, with a hot breakfast provided. Assistance with homework is also available. Program runs on school days from 7:45am to 9:15am, parents and families are welcome.

Provides packages of healthy food for children with limited or no access to food on weekends or during the summer months.

Weekends Without Hunger - Participants aged 4-17 years are referred by schools aware of students with limited access to food in their homes. Food packages are tucked discreetly into children's backpacks. Food bags are filled with healthy food items, including 5 fresh fruit items.

Summer Feeding Program - Through July and August, all students registered in the program receive grocery store gift cards through the mail at their homes on a bi-weekly basis.

This organization promotes healthy food choices, supports and provides local food education and outreach in the community

• partner with local schools to provide nutritious lunches to school-aged children free of charge

• any child who submits a request form will be provided with a meal

Youth Activity Programs:

Homework Club:

• after school homework help for children in grades 3 to 6
• 2 days per week 3:30-5:30 pm during the school year

Child & Parent Resource Centres:

• Early Years program for preschool children under 6 years and their parents/guardians
• 3 half days per week at Forest Ridge and Arbour Mill
• children must be accompanied by a caregiver
• Family Time drop-in programs, Tue 9 am-12 noon year round
• Mother Goose program for infants birth to 12 months, Wed 11 am-12 noon year round

Family Kitchen:

• for parents with children under 6 years
• food shopping tips, nutrition, meal planning, cooking skills and social eating skills for children
• children attend playgroup while parents cook, then parents and children come together for the meal

The Food & Friends Program brings healthy food to hungry minds. Breakfast, morning meal, snack and lunch programs offered throughout Dufferin, Wellington County and Guelph agencies and schools. The goal is to provide an atmosphere of social inclusion among students who may otherwise feel marginalized, aid in decreased disruptive behaviours in the classroom, learn healthy eating habits and built strong social skills.

Each host school/agency offers different kinds of food programs - call for information.

Food Bank: Walk-in service and home delivery of food (fresh and non perishable) to registered families, individuals and seniors who qualify.

Snack Attack: Offers families with school-aged children better snack choices throughout the week. Snacks are obtained through donations and additional items are purchased.

Shelter/Utility Stability: Provide counsel, mediation and periodic short term financial aid to keep Lincoln residents in their current housing with utilities functioning.

Safe at Home: Provides home furnishings for those in and out of transitional housing and to families in need.

Seniors Café Mon-Fri 8:30 am-10 am -- breakfast, followed by light exercise and music therapy

A region-wide initiative that offers support and co-ordination for nutrition programs in both elementary and secondary schools. Offers support to student nutrition programs through provincial grants and local fundraising efforts. Works together with site-based volunteers to meet the needs of student nutrition programs in each community.
