Offers a holistic and culturally inclusive alternative educational program for adults, providing:

• Individual and independent learning based on individualized, independent learning courses that students can complete at their own pace
• One on one tutoring
• Small and large group instruction

Wakendaasijig Program

Provides alternative learning environment for students considered to be at risk of not completing high school and have achieved few credits

Provides an adult education learning centre

• Facilitates upgrading courses designed for adults who have not completed their high school education
• Participates in Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR), a systematic process to identify, self-assess, organize, describe and document one's knowledge, skills and attitudes that have been acquired over one's lifetime through formal education, workplace training and other life experiences such as volunteer and military work

Services include but are not limited to:

• Literacy skills
• Basic office program learning
• Communication skills
• Computer skills
• Numeracy
• Reading
• Typing skills
• Writing

• Provides literacy and basic skills training, including numeracy, digital, communication and interpersonal skills
• Helps learners prepare for employment, apprenticeship, secondary-school credit, post-secondary education and greater independence

Supports High School Equivalency or OSSD

Provides alternative education for adult community members to obtain a high school diploma

Program objectives are as follows:

• Enable students to obtain secondary school credit courses in their home community
• Provide an alternative way to earn a provincial high school diploma (Ontario Secondary School Diploma OSSD)
• Promote First Nations culture

Program offers:

• A wide range of course selection delivered through Independent Learning Courses (ILCs), the Cooperative Education (Co-op) Program, Basic Skills upgrading, life skills and field trips
• Academic counselling and referrals to appropriate agencies as needed
• Participation in the mandatory Ontario Secondary Student Literacy Test (OSSLT) program

Student services can include:

• All necessary school supplies
• Counselling for post-secondary education planning
• Individual career planning with Ontario Works representative
• Transportation for any student living out of a reasonable walking range to program through Ontario Works
• Subsidized childcare, only for the hours a student is in school through Ontario Works

• Provides direct educational services through the delivery of college and university accredited programs, pre-employment training programs, school support services, employee training, professional development workshops and general interest learning
• Operates as an Indigenous-owned and controlled institution which includes programs that teach the Anishinabek language, culture, history and heritage

Special Education

• Supports students with special education needs who enroll in KTEI Secondary School Program and have Identification Placement Review Committee (IPRC) designation or an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) from a school outlining required student accommodations for success in school
• If a student has not been identified as exceptional by a school board, they may still request special considerations but must supply supporting professional documentation as to their specific needs

Student Awards and Bursaries

• Provides assistance for post-secondary students to apply for bursaries, awards and other financial support
• Provides an annual KTEI bursary fund as well that students can apply for; amount of financial assistance varies according to the assessed financial need of applicants, the number of applicants, and the availability of funds for allocation

Student support services can include:

• Advice and counselling on educational issues, career choices, personal growth and life skills coaching
• Cultural teachings
• Elder-In-Residence
• Individual student counselling
• Intervention and advocacy services
• Outreach and Assignment Package planning and preparation
• Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) assistance to determine student credits from prior learning
• Tutoring and Peer Support
