Independently investigates complaints by the public about the conduct of a police officer employed by the Windsor Police Service.
Ontario Civilian Police Commission(OCPC)
If assistance is needed when filling out the complaint form:
- Investigates complaints about the policies or services provided by the Windsor Police Service
- Complaints must be filed within 6 months of the incident
- Professional Standards also investigates complaints filed through the Ontario Civilian Commission on Police Services
- A complainant can go into a police station and simply have a conversation to clear up a question or complaint
- Local resolution allows the police to solve, explain, clear up or settle a matter considered to be less serious directly with the complainant
- If the complaintant does not get a resolution they can file a complaint with the Office of the Independent Police Review Director(OIPRD)

- conducts hearings regarding appeals of police disciplinary penalties

What to do if there is no heat in a residential rental unit?
- Contact the landlord and ask for the heat to be fixed immediately. Keep records of how many attempts to contact the landlord.
- If the building has six or more units, call 311 to put in a complaint to be forwarded to the City of Windsor By-Law - the health unit does not enforce municipal by-laws
- If the building that has five or less units, call the Health Unit - The inspector may make a site visit and formally notify the landlord of contravention to the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 and document their observations. The tenant can submit an MFIPPA to the health unit to request a copy of the report for the Landlord and Tenant Board.
