Canadian Prenatal Nutrition program for pregnant women aimed at reducing the risk of having a infants born at an unhealthy weight, support breastfeeding and overall health of mother and child.

A public health nurse and public health dietitian provide education surrounding healthy pregnancy and caring for infants/young children. Food coupons are available for those that attend groups and a nutritious snack is provided. Bus coupons for the city of Chatham group participants are available.

Works to promote, educate, advocate, support and normalize breastfeeding for all families. Comprised of members from the health unit, hospital, community agencies, and community members. Includes programs such as; Refugee Pregnancy Resource Centre, Mother Nurture Breastfeeding Support Services, group breastfeeding, hospital stay breastfeeding support.

• Birth control information: low cost birth control, condoms
• Emergency contraceptive pills: morning after pill, Plan B

Grow with Baby (Well Baby Clinic) - Health-related questions answered by Registered Nurse and Registered Dietitian for families of young children from birth to 18 months * infants weighed and measured

Prenatal Classes - Prenatal education classes

Single room maternity care model, which means that you labor, birth and recover in the same room and your baby stays with you at all times.

• no traditional nursery
• this type of care gives parent ample time while in the hospital, to learn how to care for their newborn by giving hands on care with nursing support
• all of rooms are private
• unrestricted visitation is encouraged
• unit also has controlled access to provide for infant security

COVID-19: Petrolia sub-office at 450 Blanche St. is closed. The Sexual Health Clinic will remain available for urgent needs, including dispensing birth control, sexually transmitted infection treatment (STI), pregnancy options counselling, and emergency contraception. Clients are required to call in advance to discuss their needs with a nurse prior to visiting Lambton Public Health. Clients will not be seen on a drop-in basis. Call 519-383-8331 ext. 3547.

• Home Visiting Program - uses a family centered model that ensures pregnant women and families with children up to 6 years old on Aamjiwnaang First Nation have access to supports that reflect their values, priorities, strengths, and preferences.
• Breastfeeding Buddies - a Mom-to-Mom Breastfeeding support Program. Trained volunteers are matched with breastfeeding moms.
• Head Start Drop-In - focuses on parent and child interactions for children up to the age of 6 years old (older siblings are welcome to join).
• New Parents group - for expectant parents and parents with children 0-6 months old. Topics are related to new parents to be and parents with newborns. Topics may include: Prenatal Classes, Breastfeeding, Making Moss Bags; Memory Bears; Infant Massage, Baby Moccasins, Baby Food Making, etc.
• Fathers group - activities for fathers, grandfathers and male caregivers with children up to 6 years old. Topics vary. Activities usually include the children.
• Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder supports - The Health Centre partners with Union of Ontario Indians and Southwest Ontario Aboriginal Health Access Centre to provide FASD resources. Supports are available for pregnant women dealing with addictions to alcohol and/or drugs or have a child with FASD

Residential Addiction Treatment Program addresses the physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects of addiction.

A free, voluntary program for expecting parents, and families with children. Provides support to parents and children from birth until the transition to school. Services include prenatal support, a follow-up phone call after a child's birth, home visits and parenting support from a public health nurse.

Prenatal education is ideal for those having babies for the first time or for those who would like a refresher. Knowing what to expect during pregnancy and how to manage once the baby is born are all part of prenatal education. Instructor is a public health nurse, who will provide information, to help make decisions with your health-care provider.
