Searching for Sexual Assault Support

The Domestic Violence Program provides

• medical treatment and emotional support to the victim of domestic violence
• documentation of medical findings such as physical injuries
• photographic documentation of injuries in the event the victim chooses to take legal action
• risk assessment and safety planning
• referral to community agencies including the Women's Centre and counselling services
• follow-up by the domestic violence coordinator to help victims with any problems or concerns

The Sexual Assault Program provides

• care and treatment to female, male and children of any age
• medical treatment and emotional support for the victim of sexual assault
• collecting and recording evidence of the assault
• testing, information and counselling for pregnancy
• testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections
• follow-up medical care and referral to community agencies

COVID-19 - The CKSACC business office is currently closed. Support and Advocacy Workers are taking appointments by telephone. The 24 hour Crisis Line is still in operation as well: 519-354-8688. Women wanting to access support can phone the Crisis Line to be referred to a Support and Advocacy Worker. Women who have accessed services in the past (and are looking at returning), or are seeking new services are asked to call the Crisis Line to set up an appointment.

Short term and long term counselling to victims of sexual assault.

Provides 24 hour crisis line and 24 hour accompaniment to Kent Sexual Assault Treatment Centre.

Offers safe, timely and supportive response to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence.

A team of doctors and nurses are dedicated to providing comprehensive care for patients who have experienced a recent sexual or domestic assault, 24/7. This service is available to all individuals.

Provides immediate counselling to male and female sexual assault victims up to the age of 18 and their families; Member agency of Support Services Network for Male Survivors in Ontario

A county outreach service offering counselling to women 50 years and older who have experienced sexual assault at some time in their lives

Qualified counsellors provide:

• Meet privately to talk about issues
• Help decide what issues to work on together
• Discuss challenges and opportunities
• Help decide on action steps to move forward in life
• Connect with other community agencies, as needed
• Support throughout first steps
• Help deal with any new issues that may arise
• Connect with other community agencies if needed
• Help cope with changes in life
• A safe space for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community to meet their mental health needs, with gender-neutral washrooms

Crisis Intervention

• service provides a twenty-four hour crisis line to survivors of sexual victimization.
• provides emotional support, problem solving strategies, information, and referrals when necessary.
• provides information to those who are assisting survivors of sexual violence such as friends, family members, and other community organizations.

Counseling

• Counseling is available to female and male survivors of sexual victimization
• Services to children who are victimized are coordinated with the Children's Aid Society.
• Counseling support is also available for non-offending significant others. .
• Satellite offices are available (Appointment scheduled for Satellite locations through the Windsor Office)

Public Education

• participate in opportunities to educate the community on the realities of sexual violence, as well as its impact, and to implement initiatives that will reduce sexual violence in our community.

Support program for survivors of gender-based violence (including emotional and psychological violence, financial abuse, and other forms of violence) or sexual assault, providing:

Prevention by Education - On-site training and information for services and agencies, community and faith groups, workplaces and schools * Elementary School Healthy Relationships Program provides school-based counselling information and training services to elementary school students, teachers and principals

Family Court Support Worker Program - information on the family court process * assistance in preparing for family court proceedings (documenting history of abuse, accessing Legal Aid) * referral to specialized services and supports in the community * safety planning * court accompaniment to proceedings when appropriate

Women Abuse and Transitional Housing Support Counselling - Counselling for women who have been abused and may need assistance finding housing * legal and financial information * assistance with safety planing * assistance with finding a safe place to live * services are available in St Thomas, Aylmer and West Lorne
