One-stop service delivery for a wide range of federal programs and services. Internet access and assistance locating and applying for government programs including:

• Employment Insurance
• Social Insurance Numbers
• Canada Pension Plan
• Old Age Security
• Apprenticeship Incentive Grant
• Passports

A partnership between Employment and Social Services (ESS) and the Chatham Kent Public Libraries (CKPL). Community Navigators assist residents with navigating systems (Housing, Education, Employment, and Income); working with technology, and connecting with supportive community services.

Services include:

• Provide one to one instruction in accessing government, social and health services online
• Provide referrals to other social services, employment and educational programs in the community
• Assist patrons with completing applications for government programs and benefits
• Completing personal income tax returns for qualifying low-income residents
• Employment Support:
  • Create, edit, copy and proofread resumes
  • The development of a cover letter
  • Complete online job applications
  • Interview information and preparation support
  • Assistance with research on potential employers
  • Finding and understanding Labour Market information
• Deliver workshops and clinics including the Rent Smart program and I.D. clinics
• Provides computers to qualifying low-income youth, families and eligible charitable and non-profit organizations via the Computer Connects program

Services are available to all residents of Chatham Kent virtually and through the 11 branches of the library.

Assist with food, clothing, necessities, resumes, filling out forms, etc.

The centre provides free, confidential information and referral services to the general public

Employment supports are available at the Chatham Kent Public Library branches by connecting with a Community Navigator.

Community Navigators can assist individuals to:

A resource centre supporting residents of the Wheatley community.

• Wheatley Area Food Bank
  • a resource for anyone experiencing food insecurity
• Pay-it-forward Pantry
  • allows members of the community to purchase basic pantry items and fresh produce by donation. All proceeds are used to sustain the Wheatley Area Food Bank.
• Village Internet Cafe
  • offers 4 computer stations providing internet access and printing capabilities.

Indigenous Skills Training Option

• To assist clients in obtaining, maintaining, or increasing their current skill levels through a variety of training courses offered by recognized and accredited training institutions.

Indigenous Employee Skills Enhancement

• To provide an opportunity to those members who are employed to upgrade their skills, to maintain their existing positions or to advance within their company/ organization.

Indigenous Job Creation Partnership

• To support job creation and on-the-job training projects that meet the needs of the employer. It provides work experience to unemployed persons by creating temporary jobs.

Indigenous Labour Force Promotion Option

• To create an opportunity for clients to gain access into the labour market by providing them with on-the-job work experience with potential employers.

Indigenous Summer Student Employment

• To provide aboriginal students the opportunity to gain career related skills and practical on-the-job work experience during their summer break.

Indigenous New Start Program

• In order for clients to successfully enter or re-enter the labour market, they may access employment supports that are critical to seeking and attaining employment.
