Committee Services
- provide information to citizens with respect to council and committee procedures, policies and decisions
- prepare and distribute standing committee agendas and council information packages
- prepare and give notice as required under the Planning Act and the Ontario Heritage Act
- record and prepare minutes of standing committee meetings
- provide administrative support to City Council and its local citizen committees
- receive applications for volunteer membership on local boards and committees and maintain records for the Committees
- maintain and update property assessment records
- provide in-house digital copy and mail services
Council Services
- manage and maintain City records including by-laws
- respond to inquiries under Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act
- provide administrative support to the six ward councillors
- act on behalf of the Registrar General for the registration of deaths (blank medical certificates available) and issuing marriage licences
- conduct municipal elections in accordance with the Municipal Elections Act
- administer group home registrations and renewals

Marriage Licences
- a marriage licence may be obtained not more than 90 days prior to your wedding
- a birth certificate or current passport along with a valid driver's licence or picture Health Card is required as identification
- Marriage License Online Quick Pass can be submitted prior to going to City Hall
- completed application must be printed and signed by both parties
- one of the applicants must be present to have the licence issued
- a divorced person must provide an original or certified copy of the Decree Absolute or Certificate of Divorce
- if your marriage was dissolved or annulled outside of Canada, authorization from the Registrar General's Office is required before a licence can be issued

This program provides support to individuals wanting to submit a record suspension application (pardon) to the Parole Board of Canada. It will support the submission of a complete and accurate record suspension application.
This program does not speed up an application or the process or guarantee approval. Nor does someone have to access this program to submit an application for record suspension.
Services are offered via phone or online. Special accommodations are available for those without access to a phone or internet. Please contact or visit the website for more details.

Operates out of the office of the Hamilton Community Legal Clinic.
Services include:
- Training for community groups, service providers, and legal workers
- Public legal education that is culturally sensitive and delivered with accessibility in mind
- Legal support and services for disadvantaged queer clients
A Welcoming Ceremony took place on May 15, 2014 at which Hamilton Community Legal Clinic was presented with an eagle feather which is available as needed to all clients.
- Responds to complaints about offences under the Residential Tenancies Act.
- Investigates complaints up to prosecution.
- Receives complaints and investigates maintenance issues where there are no municipal standards.
The role of the Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB) is to:
- resolve disputes between landlords and tenants through mediation or adjudication
- resolve eviction applications from co-ops
- provide information to landlords and tenants about their rights and responsibilities under the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA)
The LTB's customer service officers process applications, schedule hearings, and provide information to the public about the Residential Tenancies Act. Customer service officers do not provide legal advice.
Some of these services are offered at certain ServiceOntario Centres.
Family mediation is a form of dispute resolution where a neutral third party, called a mediator, assists the disputing parties to reach an informed and voluntary agreement on issues such as how to separate, parenting plans, and child and spousal support.
* Available on-site at Family Court for parties on the day of their first appearance, case or settlement or trial management conference, or motion.
* Off-site mediation is also available for parties who need more time or who don't have court proceedings started. Contact us for more information.

- Offer furnished, affordable housing to both single women and women with children for up to one year. Supports are geared to creating greater physical, emotional and financial stability in the aftermath of violence and abuse.
