Specialized services to people who are physically unable to use regular transit vehicles

• using fully accessible buses
• trips are booked in advance and scheduled on a first-come first-served basis

Information required when booking

• date of trip
• location and time of pick-up and drop-off
• number of other people travelling, such as a support person or companion(s)
• any mobility devices that will be brought onto the vehicle

Pick-up times may change by 15 minutes before or five minutes after the scheduled pick-up time

When a scheduled pick-up time changes outside of the 20-minute pick-up window, DRT will contact and advise customers by phone at least two hours before the trip

Trip cancellations must be made four or more hours prior to trip

Cobourg Transit offers an origin to destination service called Wheels for eligible riders who cannot use conventional transit.

• Members are encouraged to book a return trip at the same time as booking a pick up

Daily living needs, hygiene and daily physical care, routine personal care, stand-by or walking assistance, perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties, coordination of care, transportation, staff relief in hospitals, group homes, nursing home, shelters, and retirement home.

Convalescence and chronic care, care of the elderly and cognitively impaired, personal and attendant care (bathing, grooming), support to individuals with special needs, short and long term assignments, care giver relief, respite services (day, over night, weekends) palliative care, community skills training and support, escort with doctor's appointments

Non-emergency transportation services to local and long-distance medical appointments and SCHC programs such as recreational programs, congregate dining and adult day program * shopping and general errands

Non-emergency transportation to medical appointments and regular activities
such as grocery shopping and banking * volunteer drivers and trained staff escort clients who are unable to use public transportation on their own due to a disability or frail condition

Community Care's Community Support Services empower independent, active living for seniors and adults with special needs, helping them lead more healthy, socially engaged lives - and give caregivers much needed respite and support.

This is accomplished through a wide range of programs that provide:

• meals
• personal care
• caregiver support
• accessible transportation
• home making
• activities such as adult day programs and community dining events that help people stay connected in their community.

Specialized Transportation service features a fleet of fully accessible vehicles and is available for medical appointments, treatments, community services, shopping or social and recreational activities.

• Transportation is also available for individuals who do not require wheelchair or stretcher accessibility but who, due to frailty, may require additional support to access vehicles and escort assistance to reach their destination.

Community Care provides support and health services that promote the ability of older adults and special needs clients to remain as independent as possible in their own communities throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes. Community Care is a volunteer-based non-profit organization.

Support services offered include:

• adult day programs
• meals on wheels
• transportation for older adults and caregiver support

Community Health Centre offers health and wellness programs including primary care for people without a family doctor and a dental clinic for local residents.

Hospice Services provide palliative and grief support.

Some services extend into evenings and weekends call or email for information.

Personal Care Program -- for seniors living in the community requiring higher level of care, care coordination, scheduled and unscheduled personal support workers' visit, security check

Transitional Care Respite Stay Program -- short stay transitional care for individuals recuperating from illness/hospitalization and respite (caregiver relief) -- fee

Integrated Dialysis Care Program -- Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses visit home peritoneal dialysis patients at their home

Supportive housing services -- for seniors requiring higher level of care, 24 hour on site services at Alexandra Park Apartments and Tam O'Shanter Towers, emergency response services

Wellness and Social Program -- social, recreational and educational programs for persons 50 years and older, drop-in centre, friendship groups, interest classes, outings

Lindsay Transit provides three bus routes in the town of Lindsay

• charter services available within the boundaries of the City of Kawartha Lakes

LIMO Specialized Transit is a shared door-to-door public transit service for people with physical and or functional disabilities.

• this service is available in Lindsay only.

Provides door to door transportation services by appointment to people with disabilities

• low floor or lift equipped special purpose buses can accommodate both wheelchair and walk-on passengers
• Trips can be reserved up to two weeks in advance
• Same day trip requests can be accommodated if space is available

Operates two accessible vehicles for seniors and individuals with physical challenges who cannot access conventional transportation

• each vehicle can accommodate wheelchairs, scooters, and/or seated individuals

• can accommodate groups of six or more
