Providing licensed before and after school child care.

Licensed School-Age programs

• Before & After School child care
• child care is available on non-instructional days and school holidays if enough children are signed up to warrant the program running

Programs are:

Morning Preschool Program

• licensed program for 10 preschool/toddler children
• program runs Mon, Tues, Thurs & Fri from 8:30 am- 11:30 am
• program is based on the High Scope curriculum model using play based learning
• interactive learning and engagement, cultural teachings, Mohawk language and social skill development are some of the areas focused on

Afternoon Preschool Program

• licensed program for 16 children who will be school age the following year
• program runs from Mon-Fri 1 pm-4pm
• program is based on the High Scope curriculum model using play based learning
• interactive learning and engagement, cultural teachings, Mohawk language, school readiness and social skill development are some of the areas focused on
• Seeds of Empathy program offered during this time which fosters empathy in children
• transportation is provided to those on a first come, first serve, need only basis (by sign up)

Drop In Program

• runs Mon-Thurs from 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm for children under 6 and a parent/guardian
• program curriculum includes a variety of fun, hands-on learning activities which encompass the six components of Head Start. Adults who attend have opportunity to interact with other adults, engage with all children and lend support to other participants

Monthly Workshops

• held on Thurs afternoons from 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm
• information for each workshop will be posted in the Tyendinaga Newsletter as well as the Tahatikonhsotontie Facebook page

Resource lending and referrals are available upon request which is open for Families, Community members and service providers

Designed to meet the needs of children 0-12 years through individual attention and guidance

Four main program areas:

Ontario Early Years Centre and Resource Centre:

• The Centre provides the basis for all of our early learning program support. Families and children are engaged through regular play groups, specialized parent and child groups, parent education, pre natal education and support, provision of enhanced support for special needs children,

Licensed Child Care:

• Our licensed child care program consists of regular centre based child care as well as preschool programs located in 5 area elementary schools. Prince Edward Child Care Services is currently the only licensed child care provider in the county.

School Age Program:

• Our School Age Program focuses on children between the ages of 6 and 12. This program area encompasses 5 Before and After School programs in area elementary schools and a newly established Summer Day Camp with 3 locations providing access for families all across our rural community. The program is continuing to develop additional focused opportunities for families and children with in this age group.

Home Child Care Program:

• Our Home Child Care Program provides support and guidance to home based caregivers throughout Prince Edward County. The program offers parents a supervised; home based, licensed child care options conveniently located throughout the county.

• Licensed Child Care Centres (Picton & Massassauga-Rednersville Sites)
• Licensed Home Child Care, Licensed Middle Years (2 - 1/2 days per week Preschool & School Age) programs
• Family Resource Centre & Ontario Early Years Centre
• Child Care Fee Subsidy assistance is available for those who qualify

This center serves as a workplace Daycare for staff at many businesses in the area

Access to services that support expecting parents, parents, caregivers and home child care providers in their role.

• Children have access to inclusive, play and inquiry-based learning opportunities to improve developmental health and well-being
• Local services collaborate in an integrated way to meet the needs of children and families and actively engage parents and caregivers
• Explore Northumberland- family outdoor programs at various locations across Northumberland

Before and after school child care program.

• Using YMCA A Place to Connect curriculum, activities include crafts, homework time, snack, excursions and physical activities
• Summer child care program

A full day Early Learning program offering daily activities such as creative, science and sensory, social and language experiences both as a group and individually.

• Nutritious lunch and two snacks provided
• Full day program is run by Registered Early Childhood Educators and is governed by the Ministry of Education
• Before and after school care available
• Full day programs available during most school holidays

School-Age programs allow working parents to feel secure knowing that their children are safe, supervised and having fun before and after school hours.
