Person-centred and flexible supports for children, youth and adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities to live full, meaningful lives in their community.

Assists people with intellectual and developmental disabilities with finding meaningful ways to contribute to their community and/or earn money through volunteer and employment opportunities.

• People work with a Direct Support Professional to discuss their goals, participate in assessments to determine current skills and abilities, and develop the necessary skills to meet their volunteer or employment goals.
• Fee for service opportunities are also available for those who would like to purchase support

Community Living & Respite Northumberland (CLRN) supports children, youth, and adults with disabilities, and their families to live inclusive and fulfilling lives in their community.

COVID-19 (23 Apr 2020): 24 hr crisis lines, residential programs, ACTT services and phone lines remain open and continue as usual but all other services on hold or cancelled at this time. Ongoing changes to AMHS-KFLA's services in light of COVID-19 are available on their website

Disability resource centre

• provides information, support, and skills-building programs that address disability issues in the community supports people with disabilities, their families, and the community

Information & Referral:

• helps connect people with community income support programs, recreation, attendant services, poverty relief, social supports, etc
• assists with the process of applying for programs such as Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) and Canada Pension Plan Disability (CPPD)

Peer Support Programs:

• allow individuals with disabilities to share experiences and knowledge
• participants share information about managing a disability and help each other in developing strategies to overcome barriers
• offers one-to-one support, a weekly social group, and a monthly diners' club

Independent Living Skills Development Services:

• assist individuals to find the resources they need and develop life management skills to reach their goals

Resource Centre:

• extensive community resource library that offers information on topics such as food, shelter, and disability services in the community
• also offers a computer lab with internet access equipped with accessibility features such as voice input and voice output software

Direct Funding Self-managed Attendant Services:

Disability Tax Credit Support Services:

• assist individuals to complete the Federal Disability Tax Credit Application to obtain the non-refundable tax credit that helps people with disabilities and their families reduce their income tax

Employment club that oversees the development, growth and operations of small businesses in the Kingston area and that exist to employ people living with mental illness

• provides on the job training, coaching and mentoring

ODSP provides income and employment supports to people who have a substantial physical or mental impairment that is documented by a Health professional. A financial assessment will also be made to assess eligibility.

For Income Support the amount of the benefit will depend on the size of the family, age of dependent children/adults, shelter costs and availability and receipt of income, special diet. Other benefits include: prescription drugs, dental services, eyeglasses, hearing aids and special medical necessities.

ODSP Employment Supports helps persons with disabilities to find a job, advance to another job if under employed, overcome a disability-related job crisis to maintain employment and retain long-term employment.

The following services are delivered and/or administered at the local level:

• Ontario Disability Support Program which includes the Income Support and Employment Supports Programs

Provides specialized employment services to individuals who are blind or partially sighted and are experiencing barriers to getting or keeping employment. Employment services include:

• labour market information
• employment needs assessments, career planning, developing an employment action plan
• employment counselling, job search skills
• referral to other services
• assessments for disability-related accommodations
• case management and follow-up
