COVID-19 (8 Apr 2020) Daycare, EarlyON Centre, Youth Hub, youth programs, diner's club, and foot care services suspended until further notice. Family and youth counselling available by phone, hot and frozen meals delivery still provided, as well as groceries/prescription delivery and transportation to essential medical appointments.

This is accomplished through a wide range of programs that provide:

Specialized Transportation service features a fleet of fully accessible vehicles and is available for medical appointments, treatments, community services, shopping or social and recreational activities.

• Transportation is also available for individuals who do not require wheelchair or stretcher accessibility but who, due to frailty, may require additional support to access vehicles and escort assistance to reach their destination.

Community Care provides support and health services that promote the ability of older adults and special needs clients to remain as independent as possible in their own communities throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes. Community Care is a volunteer-based non-profit organization.

Support services offered include:

Community Health Centre offers health and wellness programs including primary care for people without a family doctor and a dental clinic for local residents.

Hospice Services provide palliative and grief support.

Community Care is dedicated to improving the health and well being of everyone in Kawartha Lakes.

• Services and programs available to local residents include the provision of personal care, congregate dining, 24-hour emergency response and care co-ordination to residents of 70 Murray St., Fenelon Falls (respite care is also available at this location to provide relief to caregivers).
• Other programs and services offered throughout the community of Fenelon Falls include an Adult Day Program, Diners Club, Transportation, Meals on Wheels, Friendly Visiting and Emergency Response. Call for specific information.

Transportation program

Transportation service to medical and other quality of life enhancing appointments

• clients must arrange their own escorts if needed
• children and young people under the age of 18 will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian

Specialized services to people who are physically unable to use regular transit vehicles

• using fully accessible buses
• trips are booked in advance and scheduled on a first-come first-served basis

Information required when booking

• date of trip
• location and time of pick-up and drop-off
• number of other people travelling, such as a support person or companion(s)
• any mobility devices that will be brought onto the vehicle

Pick-up times may change by 15 minutes before or five minutes after the scheduled pick-up time

When a scheduled pick-up time changes outside of the 20-minute pick-up window, DRT will contact and advise customers by phone at least two hours before the trip

Trip cancellations must be made four or more hours prior to trip

Providing transportation for clients needing to attend medical appointments that have no other means of getting there.

• Trips may be local or long distance.
• Community Support Services Sprinter Handicapped Accessible Van provides transportation to people unable to transfer into a passenger vehicle for medical or other appointments both inside and outside of the County.
• Minimum of 72 hours working notice is required to book transportation service.
• To utilize the sprinter handicapped accessible van, as much notice as is possible should be provided to try to entertain the request.
