Family-centred service provided to children and their parents at home to facilitate the child's language (oral and/or American Sign Language), cognitive, social and preschool literacy development

• a Family American Sign Language (ASL) adviser is available to families who wish to learn ASL
• parents, family support workers, doctors, audiologists or speech pathologists may refer a child to this program

Offers educational programs from JK to Grade 12

• English is prompted through reading and writing
• Spoken language instruction is offered to students on an individual basis

CNIB, a registered charity, is Canada's primary source of support for people with vision loss to have the confidence, skills and opportunities to fully participate in life

In Ontario, CNIB consists of three organizations:

Vision Loss Rehabilitation Ontario:

• provider of vision loss rehabilitation, funded in Ontario by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care
• provides training that enables people who are blind or partially sighted to develop or restore key daily living skills, helping enhance their independence, safety and mobility
• certified specialists work closely with ophthalmologists, optometrists and other healthcare professionals, providing essential care on a referral basis in homes and communities across Ontario

CNIB Foundation:

• entirely dependent on charitable funding, provides programs and services that address the social and emotional needs of people dealing with sight loss
• concentrates on building confidence and advocacy skills to ensure our program participants receive the accommodations they need to succeed

• works with the community to advocate for an inclusive society where everyone is welcomed, valued and supported to succeed

Deafblind Services:

• offers Deafblind Intervenor Services and Literacy Programs, funded primarily by the province on Ontario

A confidential support program offering information and referral to individuals with special needs as well as caregivers of children, youth, and adults with special needs.

• a support group for parents/grandparents/caregivers of children with all special needs

• gain support and insight from local families
• every 3rd Thurs of the month (September to June) from 6 pm- 7:30 pm

Building Blocks Clubs:

• an evidence-based social skills program using LEGO building blocks to assist in the development of communication and appropriate social interaction

Home Maintenance Workers will provide a set of willing hands to do inside and outside work including heavy housework, yard work and snow shoveling

• equipment to be provided by the client not by the worker
• workers are carefully screened by the agency
• fees are reasonable and negotiable
• call ahead for an appointment with a coordinator to sign up for the program
