- Agency works with community partners to help identify and partner with families that qualify to make the move to home ownership as a means of breaking the cycle of poverty
- To make home ownership affordable to low-income families, the agency coordinates with volunteers, businesses, community leaders, and all levels of government to build and facilitate a no down payment home and uses an interest free, long term mortgage for financing.
- Prospective homeowners must complete a written application which is assessed by the Family Selection Committee
- Once chosen, the family must complete 500 hours of volunteer work which is called "sweat equity" for Habitat
- Most of the "sweat equity" hours can be completed on the build of the chosen family's home
