Designed to help people with mental illnesses/mental disorders who come into conflict with the law, project includes:

• Mental Health Court Support Services in Criminal Courts in Barrie, Midland, Collingwood, Orillia and Penetanguishene
• Court Diversion for individuals charged with minor criminal offenses and Release from Custody services for inmates being discharged from Central North Correctional Centre in Penetanguishene
• Release from Custody also assists people 16 years and older who reside in the North Simcoe Muskoka LHIN who may be at risk of involvement/re-involvement in the criminal justice system

Office will be open to support individuals with remote court appearances (by telephone and Zoom):

• by providing access to WIFI, tablets and telephones
• available on a first come, first served basis (pre-booking is encouraged whenever possible)
• Case Managers will also be available to support with accessing disclosures, contacting Legal Aid, contacting probation and parole, making community referrals, providing digital access for employment searches and other appointments

First Episode Program -- supportive housing for individuals 16-26 years experiencing symptoms of psychosis for first time

Addictions Supportive Housing (ASH) -- housing for individuals with chronic complex addictions

• 90-minute sessions on topics such as understanding unhelpful thoughts, engaging in enjoyable activities, coping with anger, and problem solving
• for all ages

Workshops
Information regarding mental health and illness, guidance on responding respectfully and effectively to those struggling with mental health issues, coping mechanisms, and workplace responsibilities in relation to mental health

• variety of topics including Mental Health First Aid, Workplace Wellness, Resilient Minds in Tough Times, Seniors and Depression, Mental Health Works

Individual counseling including theft prevention, anger management, conflict resolution, problem solving and domestic related counselling

For children and youth who appear under the jurisdiction of the Youth Court, Ontario Court of Justice (Youth Court) in Simcoe County, this office:

• prepares pre-sentence reports, enforces court orders, and provides community resources
• monitors Court orders from Ontario Court of Justice

Provides supervision and enforces court orders for offenders serving the remainder of their sentence or their conditional sentence in the community.

• victims/partners of the offended provided with support including safety planning, referrals to community resources, and information on offender's progress

MAPS Program -- for individuals 18 years and older who are currently on probation who may have experienced or are experiencing a mental health or addiction challenge

• offers one-on-one support with a Peer Support Worker to explore recovery goals and provide connections to community supports and services
• offers support in attending various appointments such as probation, court, counselling sessions

Mindset Anger Management Program -- 8 week anger management program for individuals 18 years and old

Youth Services

Healthy Youth Preventative Education (HYPE) Program -- for youth 11-25

• small group sessions that promote positive healthy relationships and target a wide range of abusive and violent behaviours and addictions among adolescents

Youth Counselling Program -- for youth 11-29

• individualized one-on-one support, weekly sessions for youth to discuss issues affecting their lives such as mental health, substance use, bullying, stress relationship conflict and criminal justice involvement
• counsellor works collaboratively with the youth to enhance their understanding, overcome challenges and meet goals
