S.H.I.F.T. is committed to the health and safety of participants as well as staff and volunteers. Specific expectations regarding cleaning and the use of PPE are implemented under the direction of the local public health authority.

Provides safe, respectful and welcoming overnight accommodation, meals and outreach supports to those experiencing or at-risk of experiencing homelessness and/or food insecurity in South Simcoe. Facilitates connection to other services and resources in the community. Three programs offered: Emergency Overnight Shelter, Outreach and Daytime Drop-In Centre

Outreach: A Housing-Focused program offering mobile supports throughout South Simcoe to individuals, couples and families experiencing or on the verge of homelessness, providing access to life saving resources, supplies, referrals, and supports through brief case management.

• Access to basic needs, personal hygiene, and harm reduction supplies, as well as access to food and food resources.

Emergency Overnight Shelter (available November to April): Serving men, women and youth nightly during the winter months, with access to a safe, warm bed, food, shower, basic needs and supplies, harm reduction supplies and onsite supports and resources to assist in finding temporary or permanent housing solutions.

Daytime Drop-In Centre (available November to April): Open to men, women and youth experiencing homelessness and food insecurity daily, with access to shower, food, basic needs and supplies, harm reduction supplies and computer workstation for participant use. Staff are onsite to assist with accessing resources and to provide necessary supports towards reaching housing goals.

Program hours are subject to change and may vary depending on need. Call or email to confirm program availability. All programming is primarily based out of a building located at 123 Victoria St. W. The space is a fragrance-reduced environment.

COVID-19 Response
The community lunch drop-in program has been suspended until further notice. Bagged lunches will be available for pick up out front of The Lighthouse from 11:30 am-12 noon, Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri.

Regular Service
Offers emergency homeless shelter for men and women and a free community lunch program.

Provides overnight shelter. Open when an extreme cold warning is issued by Environment Canada.

Emergency Housing for Families
Includes wraparound supports and resources, meals, help to find and maintain permanent housing, supportive counselling, referrals to appropriate community services, life skills learning opportunities, access to lounges with books and televisions, computer rooms, dining room, laundry rooms, play rooms and outdoor play structures for children

• capacity 60 beds, 15 rooms to accommodate up to 15 families
• maximum stay 4 to 6 weeks
• accepts donations including towels, bedding, toiletries, diapers and pull-ups, formula, bottles, non-perishable food, footwear, clothing and new children's toys, grocery gift cards

Emergency housing for men
Includes food, supportive counselling, referrals to community services, life skills learning opportunities, help to find and maintain permanent housing, and access to lounges with books and TVs, computer rooms, kitchens, laundry rooms

Financial and material donations appreciated, including basic essentials needed to set up new households, such as towels, bedding, toiletries, food staples

The Homelessness Initiative seeks to:

• ensure that homeless people and those at risk of homelessness are provided longer-term housing solutions, shelter and support and prevention services.
• increase strategic engagement of partners and improved coordination and delivery of services.
• increase knowledge to support better informed policies, investment decision making and provision of services.

Assistance available to individuals includes:

• advocacy with Ontario Works, ODSP, service agencies and other sources of support
• assessment and referral to determine what the individuals situation is, what is necessary to ensure shelter and which agencies may provide suitable assistance
• a variety of assistance is available to help ensure housing is retained if it is in jeopardy of being lost, including possible financial assistance for needed services such as hydro and heating. Financial assistance is based on client need and is only accessible once.

Provides short term overnight shelter including two meals daily for all guests.

Laundry and shower facilities available for overnight guests.

Assists persons and/or families in seeking permanent housing or retaining their housing through advice, assistance in planning, facilitation of connections with a wide range of local support services or supports in other communities, including provincial programs.

COVID19 Entrance into the shelter restricted to staff, and clients experiencing homelessness

Temporary winter overnight shelter, includes health and wellness service, access to support workers, mental health and addiction support and basic needs, assistance finding housing, employment, and volunteer opportunities

Shelter housing for unaccompanied women

• 28 rooms for maximum 30 day stay
• helps residents develop skills to live independently through assessment, case management, referrals, life skills programming, and housing assistance
• accepts donations of toiletries, socks and pyjamas

• Provides overnight shelter during winter months Nov-Apr, breakfast and evening meal
• Provides accommodation for individuals and families experiencing homelessness, connections to housing and community supports, food and meals
• Limited shelter beds may be available
• Staff are providing 24/7 support at the motel (health and safety monitoring, connections to housing, health services and community supports, and daily food and meals)
• Eligibility determined through pre-screening over the phone 705 828 3795 (24/7) or 705 606 6589 (8am-8pm)
• DETOUR outreach team is at Collingwood Public Library on Wednesday and Saturday from 3 pm-4 pm to support people experiencing homelessness and living rough

Emergency Shelter - Provides safe, secure shelter and support for women with or without children who are experiencing abuse or homelessness. Includes advocacy, support and assistance with transportation and childcare. Emergency transportation available to get to the shelter

Second Stage Housing - Supportive temporary housing to help women who have experienced abuse transition to independent living

Support Within Housing - Support for women who have experienced trauma due to abuse and are also managing moderate to severe mental health issues while struggling to find or maintain housing or who are precariously housed

Provides emergency assistance for those in need in the community, including:

Emergency Assistance Program:

• helps to meet three basic needs - food, clothing, household items
• personal hygiene items and baby supplies also provided
• voucher for clothing assistance from Salvation Army Thrift Store
• program is available to anyone who finds themselves in need of a little help
• Emergency shelter may be arranged to help find people a temporary place to spend the night when extraordinary circumstances arise

Laundry Service is now available on premises:

• no charge to members of community who do not have access to housing
• service is offered on Tuesdays only from 11 am-3 pm on an appointment basis
• 1 wash, 1 dry per visit
• laundry detergent provided

Christmas Assistance:

• Provides food assistance, gift cards and toys for Christmas Day to families needing a helping hand
• Registration for Christmas Assistance starts in November and continues until early December
• Proof of address and identification for each person living in household is required
