Regular Service
Individual, couples, family and group counselling specializes in

• marriage, anxiety, depression, sexual assault and childhood abuse counseling and in the areas of stress, self-esteem, relationships, boundary issues, grief, LGBT
• counselling via telephone and skype available
• Group Sessions, 'Partners of Survivors' (of Assault/Abuse) and 'Warriors of Recovery' available

Provides a safe, private, confidential place with specially trained nurses and doctors providing care and treatment to sexual assault victims within 5 days of a sexual assault (some evidence collection may be possible for up to 12 days after the assault).

Care and Treatment Options are offered for each victim to choose from including:

• emotional support
• physical exam
• treatment of injuries
• treatment for sexually transmitted diseases
• pregnancy prevention
• collection of forensic evidence
• telephone follow-up call within 72 hours
• referral to community services and resources for sexual assault
• pediatric day clinic for non-emergent visits outside of 72 hours post assault

Group therapy includes 10-week mixed gender psychoeducation to develop practical skills to improve emotional regulation and relationships; foundational component prior to individual therapy

Designated Sexual Assault Centre provides treatment for women, men, youth and children who are victims of recent sexual assault, domestic violence or child abuse

Specially trained Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners provide care in a private suite, offering:

• assessment and treatment for injury, pregnancy and sexual transmitted infections
• private interview room for individuals who choose to meet with police or provide a video statement to police
• social workers provide follow-up support
• referrals to community partners for counselling and other supports
• collection of physical evidence that can be used at a later date if the individual chooses to pursue legal action

Centre includes an area for children and volunteers to sit with children while their parent/caregiver is receiving treatment

Specialized nurses on call 24 hours for emergencies

Emergency Services - for those who experienced a sexual assault within the past 12 days, were assaulted by a partner within the past 2 weeks or a child who has been or is suspected to have been assaulted in the past 72 hours

• physical examination and treatment of injuries, emotional support
• testing and treatment of sexually transmitted infections, emergency contraception
• collection of evidence of assault
• risk assessment, safety planning and referral to community services

Emergency services primarily available at Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital (services also available at Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital but there may be a delay in treatment);

Non-Emergency Services - for children, youth and adults who have experienced a sexual assault outside of the emergency care guidelines, and/or are experiencing abuse by a current or former partner and have no injuries at this time

Provides immediate crisis response services and counselling to children, youth and their families who are feeling suicidal, hopeless, unable to deal with things, frightened, alone, overwhelmed and out of control. Services include:

Settlement Program
Orientation, needs and eligibility assessments, interpretation and translation; information and referral topics include immigration, issues of concern to refugees and foreign domestic workers, citizenship, social assistance benefits, legal aid, housing, child care, English classes, and education and employment training

Community Counselling Provides:

• Crisis and longer term counselling rehabilitation case management and psychiatric assessment services to those individuals 16 years of age and older who have a serious mental illness. Require doctor's referral
• Lynx Early Psychosis Intervention program (ERI) which serves those young people who are 15 - 35 years old and showing early signs of possible 1st episode of psychosis .Require doctor's referral
• Virtual ER for pediatric population (children 0-18 years old) which provides adolescent psychiatry consultation based on a doctor's referral

A service agency under provincial legislation to provide the following services: Protection, Child Care Services, Adoption.

• Where it is impossible to keep families together, Protection Services gives protection by taking children into their care.
• It is the aim of the Society, wherever possible, to maintain the child in his/her family through the services of Social Workers.
• Child Care Services provide foster care for children admitted in the care of the Society.
• Adoption Services finds homes for children whose parents cannot make a permanent home for them.
