Barbara Kieley
President and Chair, Manotick

Barbara is a respected C-Suite level business advisor with deep experience in digital innovation, strategic planning and business transformation. She recently retired from Ernst & Young, after a 35+ year career with global consultancies. Barbara has also held VP-level positions in government organizations where she led complex service transformation initiatives. Barbara is passionate about business excellence and brings substantive corporate governance experience.

Donna Armstrong Segal
Vice Chair, Kingston

Donna has held many leadership roles in Ontario’s health care sector over the last five decades after starting her career in nursing. Recently, Donna was the past Chair of the South East Local Health Integration Network, a Director with Kingston General Hospital and Executive Director of the Health Council of Canada. Donna has also held several leadership roles with the Government of Ontario with both the Ontario Family Health Network and Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.

Alasdair Smith
Treasurer, London

Alasdair is the Vice President of Finance/Chief Financial Officer of Middlesex Hospital Alliance. He is an experienced Health Care Executive with over 20 years experience. He has the professional accounting designation CPA, CMA and Certified Health Leader. He is active in many health care committees and working groups in the South West Local Health Integration Network catchment area.

Alex Browning
Board Director, Stratford

Currently Alex is teaching part time at York University’s Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies. Alex is retired after almost 38 years at the LCBO, where he was the Senior Vice Present of Finance and Administration and CFO for 20 years. He is a fellow of both the Certified Professional Accountants (FCPA) and Society of Management Accountants (FCMA). He has an MBA from the Ivey School of Business and a Masters of Education from Brock. He currently serves on the boards of a financial institution, a Wine & Spirits Distribution company and a not for profit charity.

Lauren Calderwood
Board Director, Toronto

Lauren is the Manager of Duty Counsel at the North York Family Courthouse. She has worked as a family lawyer for Legal Aid Ontario since her call to the Ontario Bar. Lauren obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of Windsor-Faculty of Law, and has dedicated her career to serving low-income Ontarians.

Brett Cranston
Board Director, Milton

Brett is an Associate Partner in the Financial Services Consulting practice of Ernst & Young LLP, the Canadian Technology Risk (TR) People Leader and the Canadian Blockchain Technology Risk Practice Leader. He has over 12 years of experience in consulting leading business, technology, digital strategy and transformational programs. He has a breadth of experience which includes internal and external audits, enterprise risk assessment, cloud, cyber and information security, blockchain, information management, as well as ERP and application risk and controls. Brett also holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Double Major in Accounting and Finance) at Saint Mary’s University as well as the CPA, CMA, CIA, and CISA designations.

Arnold (Arnie) Francis
Board Director, Almonte

Arnie is the Vice President of d4projek management inc., a governance consulting company based in the Ottawa area. Arnie also holds the CISA, CPM and CBM designations. His involvement in community leadership includes founding a local refugee resettlement initiative, exercising a 25-year commitment to advocacy for vulnerable persons, and the promotion of cultural values through community engagement projects.

Allan Katz
Board Director, Kingston

Allan has held progressively senior leadership positions in Ontario’s health care sector. Currently, Allan is serving as Chair of the Stroke Network of Southeastern Ontario and is a Board Director of Shared Support Services Southeastern Ontario. He is the principal of an independent health system planning consultancy. Allan has served in senior leadership roles at Riverside Health Care (Fort Frances, Emo and Rainy River in Northwestern Ontario). South East Community Care Access Centre, Health Care Network of Southeastern Ontario, Deep River District Hospital, Northeastern Ontario Regional Cancer Centre and Muskoka/Parry Sound District Health Councils.

Jack Leung
Board Director, Toronto

Jack is a management consultant at KPMG; he leads enterprise-wide transformation initiatives across different industries for investors and operators. He specializes in sustainable cost reduction, post-transaction integration, and commercial due diligence. Jack holds a Master of Laws at the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of British Columbia. He has served in many charitable organizations, including the Trinity Square Cafe in Toronto.

Eric Sutherland
Board Director, Oakville

Eric is a data strategist with a passion for enabling trusted insight through implementation of leading information management practices and linking enterprise strategy to practical solutions with business, technology, and data partners. He has been Chair of the Oakville Public Library and a member of the Board of Directors of CorHealth. In five years in the health sector, he had had roles advancing the better collection, sharing, and use of health data at the Public Health Agency of Canada. Canadian Institute for Health Information and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care in Ontario. In all of these roles, Eric strives to collaborate with partners to find the genius of ‘and’ in solving wicked problems. Eric continues to recover from 20 years at a major Financial Institution, with a variety of roles lead data, business, and technology groups across Finance and Risk.

Stephen J. Van Valkenburg
Board Director, Kitchener-Waterloo

Stephen has almost four decades of experience in Emergency Medical Services in Southwestern Ontario. He is currently the Chief of Region of Waterloo Paramedic Services. He has also served in senior roles in Middlesex-London Paramedic Services, Niagara Emergency Medical Services, as well as Lambton Emergency Medical Services, Wallaceburg Central Ambulance Communications Centre and London Central Ambulance Services.

Graham Woodward
Board Director, Toronto

Graham Woodward has focused his career on improving health care policy, planning, and delivery through better use of evidence, data, and collaboration. With the Mental Health and Addictions Centre of Excellence (MHA CoE), Graham’s focus is on creating a high-performing mental health and addictions system that delivers demonstrable improvements in outcomes and experience for Ontarians. This will be achieved by building on what has been learned and achieved in other parts of Ontario’s health care system such as cancer, cardiac, and renal, through MHA sector collaboration, and by utilizing the many valuable resources and experiences present at Ontario Health. Prior to joining the MHA CoE, Graham has held leadership roles in several of Ontario’s higher performing systems. He co-led the merger of the Cardiac Care Network and Ontario Stroke Network to create CorHealth Ontario, where he also led the Health System Policy, Planning, and Performance portfolio. Prior to CorHealth Ontario, Graham helped found the Ontario Renal Network (ORN), leading its clinical, planning, performance, and funding portfolios, and held leadership roles with Cancer Care Ontario and the Ontario Ministry of Health, as well as research positions with the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences and the University of Toronto.
